Damn fine job, Razzy. Pity we can`t copy it for reference into MS Word. Notepad destroys all the touches.

I've put a version of this on my website (hosted by ) that is all one html document. Click on "to share" in my signature for the index. You can copy and paste that one directly into word, and it should keep most of the hyperlinks in the process. Let me know how it works out.

Dr A.
I don't think Dr. A has been fairly treated with another ban.
He has clearly been goaded into anger by Randman, who uses his showcase forums to do just this.
Randman has a clear history of distortion, yet when pointing it out (albeit bluntly) Dr. A continues to come a cropper and Randman becomes ever more insufferable.
Given that the format clearly winds him up, why not just ban Dr.A from showcase fora?

how is that off-topic, exactly?
re: my post here. the topic is why people tout some rules in leviticus, but ignore others. greatest i am posted something that was, i agree, marginally offtopic, but his generalization of the text misrepresented text in exactly the same manner as the more rabid fundamentalists tend to do, even if the intentions were good.
in an effort to correct this misunderstanding, i "cherry-picked" a verse from the very book in question in the op, and demonstrated that there is a side to the book that people often ignore. nearest i can tell, "things people ignore in leviticus" IS the topic, even if it's good things instead of anti-menstrual craziness et al.

Re: how is that off-topic, exactly?
Since you really didn't say anything in your post, tagging it was a tough call. I didn't feel that you addressed the topic.
OP writes:
Why do many people feel it's ok to cherry pick the laws they like from the bible, yet ignore others. Do they know which laws god is still enforcing? ...
I think we can start with the Leviticus laws and discuss why people think it's ok to follow some, but not others.
Your followup in Message 78 is what pushed me towards tagging message 76 as off topic.
arach writes:
does an argument need to be made here, or does it sufficient demonstrate the complexity of leviticus and its place in the torah?
Your question did not lead me to view your point in message 76 as dealing with why people follow certain laws in Lev and ignore others.

Re: Dr A.
I respectfully request of Admin that Dr. A's suspension be lifted for "time served" with a probationary period equal to his original one month suspension during which he cannot participate in the Showcase.
While I have not discussed this with Dr. A, I also offer my own guarantee of his conduct during that probationary period: I would share any further suspension imposed on him during that time.

Re: Dr A.
I'll consider it, but to be frank I am still deeply disturbed by this. After Randman requested Dr A. be removed from Showcase, I spoke up in his defense. Randman responded that he still wanted Dr A. removed because he was confident Dr A. would continue the misbehavior, and I again spoke up for Dr A. Then Dr A. posted and proved Randman - Randman, of all people! - absolutely correct.
I put my trust in Dr A. to pay due consideration to the board's reputation, the board's Forum Guidelines, and to my own wishes as director. He seriously let me down.
The Internet can be both a fun and serious place, and I want EvC Forum to share both these qualities, but it is definitely not a playground for those on a lark who think, "Hey, this isn't the real world, I can do as I please!" The Forum Guidelines are not a rigid set of rules. There's plenty of room for creativity, imagination and brilliance, but if you're going to stretch the limits of the Forum Guidelines then I highly recommend that those qualities be in full display, because repeated doltish declarations of "That's a lie" is not the level of discourse we're seeking.

I second that request. I don't see how anything is accomplished by long sentences.
