write [ QS ] (without the spaces,) the text, and then [ / QS ] (without the spaces.
The result is nice and pretty!

Re: A bump for navajoeverclear
DOH!!!
I had assumed the 'reply' on the bottom of the page did the same as the 'llrb' but that kind of thining is just 'lame'. Thank you for posting this and sorry for the confusion I may have inadvertently caused in earlier posts.

Re: A bump for navajoeverclear
It really isn't obvious.
Maybe Percy could change the message specific reply button to "Reply to this message" and the non-specific reply button to "General reply - Not to a specific message".
Or something like that.

suggestive help
I appreciate the help you have been to me in understanding the way this site functions. I did have another question which I thought best answered by an Admin who I could comfortably ask, but I would rather not ask in a public forum. Let me know what you think about this and thanks.

Time for a fresh bump
Newcomers might wish to review this topic.
The essence of it is:
1) The big reply button at the bottom and top of the page is intended for a general reply to the topic. That is, one NOT specificly directed as a response to a specific message.
2) The "little red arrow reply button" ("lrarb") found at the bottom of the individual messages, should be used if you are replying to a specific message. Please use the "lrarb" that is at the bottom of the message you are replying to. Do NOT use the "lrarb" at the bottom of the last message, UNLESS you are indeed replying to that last message.
The advantages of the "lrarb", are that "reply to" and "reply from" messages are created at the bottoms of the messages. Also, if the person is using the e-mail notification feature, s/he will get an e-mail notification to a reply to their message, IF the replier uses the "lrarb" at the bottom of their message.

Re: Time for a fresh bump
Bump again.
People, if you are replying to a specific message, please use the "reply" button found at the bottom of that specific message.
If you are making a general reply (not to a specific message) please use the large "reply" button, found both at the bottom and the top of the page.
You may wish to also review upstring, of this topic.
If you are intending to use that large "reply" button, be careful that you don't use the "new topic" button found next to it.

Re: Bump and a quote
If members are willing to accept this change, then it might be reasonable to try re-enabling the "reply w/quote" button.
Thanks for responding to my missplaced post on this subject. I will respond in this thread where I should have entered my post so as not to further disrupt the other thread.
I know what you're saying. Where this is used I've seen multiple long repetitive quotes, often by the same thoughtless user clutter up a thread and waste threadband.
I like your idea as stated. Could the quote button possibly be placed in a separate area of the post accompanied with a short message to the effect that users of this button do so at the risk of being censored if improperly or abusively used? .....Or even accompanied by a link for users to read before using this option for the first time?

Re: Time for a fresh bump (This time for Lam)
Lam - I noticed that you are not using the "Little Red Arrow Reply Button". Doing such at the right times helps with the organization of things.
Quoting what I said the previous time:
quote:
Not a critical problem - Just a nice way to do things.
By the way, there are also nicer ways to do the quoting:
quote:
This is one way
This is another way

This is yet another way
