Definition Please
How do you define modern man?

Kindly
When I was young I loved everything about cigarettes: the smell, the taste, the feel . everything. Now that I’m older I’ve had a change of heart. Want to see the scar?

If by this you mean the first emergence of the homo sapiens species, it is thought to have occurd somewhere around 200.000 years ago. If I recall correctly

Oldest Homo sapiens
Here is an excerpt from a recent article:

Human fossils found 38 years ago in Africa are 65,000 years older than previously thought, a new study says”pushing the dawn of "modern" humans back 35,000 years.
New dating techniques indicate that the fossils are 195,000 years old. The two skulls and some bones were first uncovered on opposite sides of Ethiopia's Omo River in 1967 by a team led by Richard Leakey. The fossils, dubbed Omo I and Omo II, were dated at the time as being about 130,000 years old. But even then the researchers themselves questioned the accuracy of the dating technique.
The new findings, published in the February 17 issue of the journal Nature, establish Omo I and II as the oldest known fossils of modern humans. The prior record holders were fossils from Herto, Ethiopia, which dated the emergence of modern humans in Africa to about 160,000 years ago.

About 200 000 years but why is a whole thread needed for a simple question? Do you plan to develop it further into another topic?

Well the Creationist would say that 4400 yrs ago after the flood occured the earths population was 8, that be Noah and the rest of his crew. They say that 4400 yrs is more then enough to bring the population to where it is today. Now if that be the case, what would the population be like if we had 200,000 yrs to populate the earth?

We've got no reason to think that the population would be any different than it is now. Although it would likely be rather lower if the young earth creationists were right.
The creationist models are usually based on simple exponential growth without considering other factors - notably "carrying capacity" - the population that can be supported and how technology affects it. Typically they do not consider historical population figures for a large part of the time they cover. As such their models are not only simplistic - they have little contact with the evidence. As a result, they are worthless.

Yes, and they are wrong. You've perhaps seen Kent hovind make this argument, showing a nice little graph? You will notice all this graph does is rise, it never drops. Now, In the medieval times, the plague decimated Europe for up to 3 times, in the first and second world wars, millions died, this would've made an impact on that graph, yet, we do not see it, therefore the graph is not a representation of reality

yes i have seen some of kent Hovinds presentations and i have to say he is very convincing for someone that the Evolutionists say doesant have a clue. I would have to say i am wavering towards the ceationists as there is so much in the evolutionary theory that doesant quiet sit rite with me, one thing is i really cant see how we can get life from non life. If this was possible, why dont we see it in nature today?, or is it happening without my knowledge?.

The thing is that graph portrays humanity expansion like unto bacteria in petri dish. People move in migratory patterns and stop when they find a place they like.

This has nothing to do with evolution. Evolution takes place when life is already present.
Think of the study of a plant growing in a pot: you are interested in how the plant grows, not whether the seed was put there by a person, passed in the droppings of an animal or blown there in the breeze.
This is how we conceptualise evolution, what happens once life got started. TOE makes makes no comment on the genesis of life.
It could be a natural process, it could be by a gods' will. TOE does not care.

Evolution deosn't say anything about the origin of life though, that would be abiogenesis. As far as evolution's concerned god could've created the original life, and evolution took it from there.
As for Kent Hovind, try watching some of the extantdodo videos on him on youtube, they explain a great deal about where he goes wrong.
P.S.: Welcome to EvCForum

Do you realise that the assumptions made in order to justify that particular assertion contradict not only recorded history but even the numbers given in the Bible itself?
Now if that be the case, what would the population be like if we had 200,000 yrs to populate the earth?
Modern man has been on the Earth for 200,000 years and the population is what it is now, so I'm not sure how to understand your question. Do you want a discussion of our estimates of population through time? The causes behind its variation? What?
Edited by Mr Jack, : Cut up quote more coherantly.

extantdodo
not likely to happen. Seems CSE likes to get him suspended. When he is, his videos are not available. He is currently suspended (according to one comment, on the 23rd). Seems some people have suggested that those responsible for his suspension go suck a crocoduck's doaca.
Shame really. Kent Hovind's in jail for tax evasion/fraud and people are still fighting for him.

Re: extantdodo
Dammit, next time he’s back up, I’ll download all his videos and host them up myself when he gets taken down again. Seriously, why can't some people take criticism.
ABE:
Seems someone already had that idea, check out: https://www.youtube.com/user/djarm67 he has most of them up I believe, sadly, due to length restrictions, he's had to cut them into pieces.
Edited by Huntard, : Added link to hosted dodo videos
