I have a friend that's a bouzouki player. He plays it at our gatherings sometime. We (our village) have two Celtic bands, and he at least occasionally plays with them. It seems stupid that I'm not sure whether he's plays with them regularly, but I'm not.
Hmmm. Just checked their web site at KulaBand.com is for sale | HugeDomains. He's not in their picture, but he is listed in their EPK (whatever that is; I'll have to ask David, their webmaster and guitarist) as part of their instrumentation.

Hi, I work in a hospital microbiology lab as a biomedical scientist.
Between that and my degrees I think I've got a fairly decent general understanding of biology subjects. I would like to contribute as I find many of the topics fascinating, but I find there's not much more I can add to what the regular posters have to say.

I'm a university (college for the US members) student - second year of my B.Sc (B.S. for the Americans). I'm in the Advanced Study Program (which I believe is called a 'Scholars Program' in the US), meaning I am pushed into labs to do research already, and am encouraged to do an Honours Degree (in Australia, there are two types of bachelor's degrees - pass [3 years long] and honours [4 years long]) and to go on to do postgraduate studies in science (and discouraged from studies in clinical medicine). I've chosen two fields of study (aka double major) in nanotechnology and neurobiology (hence the synapse as my avatar).
So, because undergraduates think they know everything, I've been editing the EvoWiki as part of my study - when I learn something, I go and write an article on it for the EvoWiki. So I guess that allows me to bring a keen knowledge of the creationist claims contained there to EvC. But there doesn't seem to be so many YECs around here as I originally thought. Edited by Doddy, : added comment on my avatar Edited by Doddy, : clarified part about honours degrees "And, lo, a great beast did stand before me, having seven heads, and on each head were there seven mouths, and in each mouth were there seventy times seven teeth. For truly there were seven times seven times seven times seventy teeth, meaning there were. . . okay, carry the three, adding twenty. . . plus that extra tooth on the third mouth of the sixth head. . . Well, there were indeed a great many teeth" - The Revelation of St. Bryce the Long-Winded |

Unemployed at the moment. Educationally wise I have a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering with some dabbling in anthropology (physical anthropology/human evolution) and trade wise I have some traing in CNC machining/programming. So while not an actual scientist I guess my education/training leads me to examine things from a scientific perspective and to take things step by step.
Just a monkey in a long line of kings. If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! *not an actual doctor

I'm the night janitor at a veterinary clinic. I've stripped floors at a couple of vet clinics. So cold the wax froze. I do a lot of things, but at the moment, nobody's paying me to do 'em. I am a second year biology student (out of three years) at Ben-Gurion University, I spent 5 years in Los Angeles between the age of five and ten, where I (initially) went to a religious jewish school. As far as I can remember, I was an atheist then already (always the doubting type), and I would tell my friends that "I believe in god 50%".
I hope to go into research of molecular biology (any area really...). I like long walks on the beach and curling up in bed with a cup of cocoa . I bring love a peace to the debate on EvC.

I'm finishing up a bachelors in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Pittsburgh (I recently got a biology degree from there). I do private tutoring, which pays well but the hours are erratic.
Also, I wash dishes at a nearby (right below my apartment) restuarant. Hopefully once I finish my HPS degree, I'll get promoted to server! A boy can dream... [edit]Oh yeah...I bring pendantry - often times erroneous and distracting. Edited by JustinC, : No reason given.

I'm a consultant. In other words, I charge people for the answers to questions they didn't ask and to which they already knew the answers.

quote: One of the top 30 liberal arts schools in the country, Davidson College, has just announced that it is no longer going to offer student loans. All of it's financial aid is through work study, grants, and scholarships. They are doing it because they don't want to saddle graduates with tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Isn't that nice?

quote: The Pleasure Bar in Bloomfield. It used to be quite popular back in Pittsburgh's heyday in the 70's; the Pirates would always hang out there. My great grandfather actually started it in the 60's, but sold it in the 80's. I think they let me work there because they get some delight out of having the original owner's family work for them (we sold it to a 'rival' family, or something along those lines).

You live about a half mile from where I used to live, about a block off Baum Blvd. on Morewood Ave.

quote: Oh, no, you have got to be KIDDING me! I've eaten there a lot, since my husband and I lived in Friendship on Graham Street. Love the baked ziti and the potato balls!
quote: Lemme guess you sold it to the family that owns Dell's down the street, didn't you? But anyway, listen to this. My mother lived above the Pleasure Bar over 40 years ago when she was a student at West Penn nursing school! She tells stories of the owner picking her up and sitting her on the counter (she was tiny then as now, under 100 pounds). I am willing to be that that was your grandfather! Small world.
