It has been suggested, plausibly, that it was a hearing aid.But it couldn't be a cell phone, because, think about it, if you traveled back to 1920 with a cell phone ... there'd be no reception. 'Cos of there being no masts. 'Cos of it being 1920. Next up, film of someone in 1887 using the internet.

I just came across this topic and had to Google.Why does it have to be a cell phone that required cell towers? Is cell phone that required cell towers as advanced as we will ever get with wireless technology?If there is one thing that history has taught us is that predictors of limits on human ingenuity are always doomed to fail. After all, it was laughable that I would be using a computing device thinner than my folder while the most advance computers ran on vacuum tubes.

If it's that far advanced beyond our cellphone technology, why assume that it's a cellphone at all? Maybe it's a clone-o-matic or a pocket starship.
