Anyone interested in [another] EvC chess tournament?
If so, sign up at Chess.com, post your username, and start playing!
First two people to post their usernames play against each other (second poster sends a challenge to the other member's username).
Once you are in a challenge, the challenger can make a post declaring the game started and who the players are.
I'll start: My username is J0NLEE
Winners play winners; losers play losers. Last one standing is the EvC Chess Grand Master. Ratings don't matter.
Enjoy.

Chess.com, eh? Might I add that participants should also sign in here so that we know who is playing?

Yup; that's the idea.
Second person to post in the pair creates a challenge to the first; once accepted, they make a post here telling us they are playing.
Are ya in?

Give me a few days to brush up, I haven't played a game in at least 7 or 8 years. I am probably much worse than I remember...
My user name is fearandloathing72
AbE... Thanks, it might be nice to play again, none of my friends play and I haven't thought about playing online until now.

I'm in--hard to tell who to challenge with the equivocal commitments above.
Whoever it is, take pity on a poor old man, bent and broken by labor.
Omnivorous at chess.com as well.

Re: In

Let me clear up what I think of my own abilities are...rank amateur at best Most the people I have played have been friends I have taught, well shown how the pieces can be moved. None of them liked it enough to play but a few times, even though one or two had good games.
The only way to get better is to be beaten, I find this as fun as winning, being able to look back and see where you THINK you went wrong is half the fun.

Well Versed in Chess
The Royals gathered one by one,
From far away did many come.
Kings brought queens and queens brought kings;
And little boys the bishop brings.
He laid them out. At four apiece,
To total eight; each on a leash.
Between the mighty castle walls,
Stepped forth the horses from their stalls.
And all were suited rank and file;
To stand their ground but for a while.
For naught could match the white king's greed.
Who first set charging on his steed.
Thus tumult struck each embassy,
As wars broke out at EvC.

Re: In
I remember how good of a chess player you are, Omni. You may be a bit older and weaker physically than in the strong days of youth, but your mind is as sharp as ever!

Re: In
Phat, if you put my mind on the edge of a razor blade, it would look like a BB rolling down a six-lane highway...
But thanks for the vote of confidence.
We have a few extremely good players here. I hope they'll join in and humble us all--it's the only way to improve.

Re: Chess Challenge
I accept. Be warned you will not find it much of a challenge to beat me.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, slipped my mind, I was in the process of posting pointless drivel when you originally challenged me.
I haven't used chess.com before so I am not sure how it works, bear with me. I am going to practice a game or 3 shortly and then we can get to it.
AbE... Seems pretty straight forward place to play, I will be starting our game soon.
Thanks for the reminder.

Hooray - chess! If I remember rightly, didn't the last tournament kind of peter out after about half of the games were won on time?
I just joined as caffeine-evc, because I'm not very imaginative. Who should I be challenging?
