No, I dont think ol' dubya will sign it into law (unless he has the hots for Cheney and Rummy.), though a future El presidente might just do so. You never know in a world like ours.

hit thoua nevres?
Seems I might have hit a sensitive nerve here. I'll do my best to respond to all your data in your post, but I dont have much time.
My personal religious views do not have a bearing on deciding on the laws of the land. As I said, me being one person dont count. Probably among the reasons I gave up voting (though I might do so this year). And as an individual, neither does your personal Religious Beliefs. The boys and girls representing society and special interests do that, as well as the Courts. They decide the laws of the land.
Bible supports Slavery: yes and no. It does support the right to own slaves in the Old Testament (specifically the Torah) but I dont recall the New Testament supporting Slavery, although slaves are many times mentioned in it. I'll have to do some research into slavery and the New Testament, but the Old Testament style was for a period of seven years, and if i'm not mistaken it was to pay off a debt. It wasn't the same kind as we had before the Civil War. Besides, we as a Nation actually DO support slavery,, though not in our nation. Just keep those slaves in third world sweatshops making stuff we want and we wont rase a ruckus .... I am being a little satirical here at the last part. I'll find those passages on slavery (OT and NT) and post shortly.
Now about that other thingy you said;
Nuggin writes:
If you want to argue on behalf of the nation as a whole, let's hear some real points.
Well, like I said I dont count. But my reasons for the Nation would be that if you legalize gay marraige, you promote a lifestyle that is Immoral and sickening. But My views reflect Biblical teaching, so I cant use it with others here(remember, my "personal" Religious views should not make national laws, as you stated)So I dont see why I should continue on that part. I dont know any medical websites or political ones that show that Homosexual lifstyles are damamging physically (cause harm)other than one that talked about Gay Bowel Syndrome (GBS), but I'll no doubt be attacked from all sides by those who have an arsenal of counter sites and Net research knowledge that I am definitely without and ignorant of, so it is kinda a waste of time. I'll post the Bio site if you want though.
Would it impact my life? Probably not much. I usually coast on by and study the Bible and Bears and so on. Sure, i'll be angry if they legalize it, but what can I do to stop it? VOTE? ROFLMAO hahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
I cant write much longer. a storm is blowing in. Lateraza

Re: hit thoua nevres?
There were, IIRC, very different rules for Hebrew slaves and for goyim. Hebrew slaves were treated a lot better.
My great-great-grandfather wrote a catechism "Especially for the Instruction of Coloured Persons," with lots of Bible verses, New Testament included, explaining how those persons should submit to their masters and wait for their reward in heaven.

Re: hit thoua nevres?
Not a nerve, but I topic I've been itching to get into... although we may be spinning off topic.
My problem is that the arguement on the pro-descrimination side always seems to come down to something like this:
But my reasons for the Nation would be that if you legalize gay marraige, you promote a lifestyle that is Immoral and sickening.
But I have no way of quantifying or qualifying that.
What is "immoral"? What is "sickening"?
I'm serious. If some we look at some new behavior, how do we judge if it is immoral? Is "cow-tipping" immoral? I mean, it's certainly not mentioned in the Bible, so the Bible can't be the end all be all of setting the rules. Is Johnny Knoxville's "Jackass" immoral? etc.?
Further, what is sickening? How do we judge that? How do we make laws of the land based on that?
I'm not suggesting you are a legistlator, or that you even have firm beliefs on the topic, but you are the only one responding so...
Can you give me a solid reason why we shouldn't allow two people of the same sex to fill out a State sanctioned license without bringing God into the argument?

The question is this: How do we, the few remaining rational people, save those who can not save themselves?
Thank God we have a Constitution to keep fascism like this restricted to debate boards.

Gotta love it
fascism like this
Funny how when we suggest that we educate the masses, those very people who need the education the most, the one's who have literally installed a fascist government, turn around accuse the people trying to help them of exactly what they have done.
A perfect example of what I'm talking about Herpetron. Thanks for making my point!

Hebrews and slaves
That interesting thing about your great+great grandfather is interesting. Could you poost his name? Doing so much theological work at college, I might know who he is.
Now about slavery: The Old Testament, as stated by me, you and a few others did allow slavery. The New Testmanet didn't attack the idea , although to take people captive and sell them as slaves is forbidden (1st Timothy 1:10)Slavery was a major part of the society back then, and unless you didn;t want a bloodbath, you didn't call for it's end (Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary. page 1511)But the Principles of Christ and the Apostles found in the New Testmanet on Human equality later lead to abolition of slavery (see same source, same page) though slavery seems to always be at present and trickles down into history, even in Christian countries (Confederacy, US,)
Of course, considering that the New Testament does away with a lot of the aspects of the Law (Galatians), you cant bring it up and say "the Bible is pro-slavery" without getting into what part of the Law applies to Christians and what does not apply at all anymore.
Sorry fer gettin off topic there.
