Well this makes no sense at all does it?
I believe that I have found a rational reason in Jesus Christ.

Belief in the face of strong negative evidence is not rational...
Agreed. In your case, I'm not seeing the negative evidence so much as I am seeing a lack of any evidence. Do you have any negative evidence to present to me?
Tangle writes:
You spend very large quantities of your life counting angels on pin heads and praying for it to be true. It's such a waste of your energy and life. You'd be far better off just behaving like a decent person and getting on with it.
I never count angels.Just blessings. I am not a religious fanatic and thus never waste much time or energy at all---unless you count making these posts as a waste of time!
I do try and behave as a decent person would---and if i met you on the street you may not know I am religious at all. Some of my church would consider that a bad thing, but I believe that my God--if real---will Himself draw you into whatever He wants for you. If I tried to do it it would simply piss you off worse.
If I did know you--in person--I would attempt to simply behave as a decent person would behave. I would not try and convert you unless i felt a need to do so.
The reason I try here is because its a Forum. Perhaps now you can try and suggest something for me to improve my life.

You've found an emotional reason to believe - if it was rational, you wouldn't need to believe it, it would simply be a fact that you could demonstrate to others.
Do you have any negative evidence to present to me?
Of course, there's vast quantities of it, it's been discussed here ad nausium but you just shrug it off and get on with micro-analysing biblical passages.
You even have the evidence of your own personal circumstances - why is your loving father treating you so badly?

Re: Ripleys Believe It or Not
why should i worry about how I am being treated? Why not just treat others better ?

Guilty.
why is your loving father treating you so badly?
I think I'm my own worst enemy at times. If I listened to my father I would fare better.

Why the hell wouldn't you???
Why not just treat others better ?
Why not indeed? (You can do both you know.)

What exactly does this father tell you?

Why the hell wouldn't you???
Seems our argument is now focused on the concept of fate.
Some believe that either God causes it or satan causes it.
Others believe in strict determinism...Creator or no creator.
Still others believe that we become the decisions that we make.
Perhaps you hold to the view that if a God exists, He has the responsibility to micromanage determinism.

No, nothing that intangible. You said why should you worry how god was treating you, I said why on earth wouldn't you?
If you think that god is treating you badly, that should be a source of high anxiety. It's also a proof that your loving god isn't a loving god.
Perhaps you hold to the view that if a God exists, He has the responsibility to micromanage determinism.
No. If he's god he can do wtf he wants - including totally ignoring us.

Men rarely if ever dream up a god superior to themselves. Most gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child.

A good quote and quite accurate.
That is why people should not do so until they find their Father Complex.
That is when a mind actually begins to think for itself.

Re: 1 issue at a time. I have a question for you GIA (based on a sentence of yours)
Phat
"Why do you call it religion when it is only psychology?
Religions are created for social manipulation and control.
What is that if not psychology in the guise of theology?
But that aside, I see all religions and governments and their theology and philosophies to all be synonymous. All seek the best rules and laws to live life by and to say that one is different from the rest is to just have tunnel vision.
------------
"I am asserting that you do not believe in God as an external reality but only as an internal rationality. Logic tells us that an internally generated "god" can never be greater than ourselves because it is in fact our self."
If we are talking the supernatural God that was defined by most religions, including Islam and Christianity, before they became idol worshiping cults, then I agree. That God is a useless aberration that we should all scrap for the garbage he is.
The God I follow, so to speak, is indeed my internal construct of what a Father or God should be.
Am I greater than that God if I act on what I have learned?
Yes, as that God is not as active as I am. That is the only time I plead superiority over my God. I can go about while he cannot.
-------------
"that Jesus Christ is Lord and is alive today"
Why don't you just admit that you believe in a fantasy instead of making statement that are obvious lies?
That or start looking at the immorality of Jesus' moral tenets and recognize how immoral they are.
Just look at his no divorce and sacrifice policies and it is easy to see how immoral those are.

DL
