So you stayed home?
The good news is that due to Irma being on land, the storm is now a Cat 3 and will begin to diminish....being a huge storm, however...the effects will still be severe....but the worst case scenarios have not materialized, thank God. Marco Island and Naples are the likely path at this point.Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. ABC News writes: Combined damage from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma could cost the U.S. economy as much as $290 billion, according to a new forecast. Hurricane Harvey, which battered Houston with record amounts of rain and flooding last month, is estimated to be one of the costliest weather disasters in U.S. history, and Irma is expected to cause record-breaking damage as well, AccuWeather President Joel Myers said in a statement Sunday. "We believe the damage estimate from Irma to be about $100 billion among the costliest hurricanes of all time. This amounts to 0.5 of a percentage point of the GDP of $19 trillion," Myers said. "We estimated that Hurricane Harvey is to be the costliest weather disaster in U.S. history, at $190 billion, or 1 full percentage point of the GDP." "Together, AccuWeather predicts, these two disasters amount to 1.5 of a percentage point of the GDP, which will about equal and therefore counter the natural growth of the economy for the period of mid-August through the end of the fourth quarter," he added. Of course since Trump advocates eliminating the debt ceiling, no problem, right? Unless global creditors ever question our ability to repay....Chance as a real force is a myth. Remember Phat, US economy.
The US will need to build, renovate and sell tens of thousands of houses. Can you say jobs? The US will need to replace as many as a million cars. Can you say jobs? Building will get refurbished. Can you say jobs? Banks will lend money. Can you say jobs? Roads and bridges will need to be repaired. Can you say jobs? Power lines will need to be replaced. Can you say jobs? ...

Can you say jobs? Oh....now I see it. Trumps climate change denial is really a brilliant plan to stimulate the economy! Truly visionary.

The number of new jobs created will be HUGE. So HUGE the US may have to sub-contract out building the Wall (the HUGE wall) to Mexico.
There is no tragedy so big that it can't be good for politicians.

I wonder if the labour shortage will be huge enough to impact the immigration policy?

Had some massive amounts of rain and some really strong winds gusts. I ended up losing a few shingles off my roof. But other than that, no issues. And power has just been restored to my area.
We got slightly stronger winds than forecast due to Irma's path changing at the last minute and bringing it closer to Orlando. Several tornado warnings but it appears no extensive damage in my area. Other than a lot of debris from leaves and broken tree branches.

Not unless there is a shortage of kitchen help, waiters, landscape and gardening, trash collection or pool cleaners.

Canadian softwood lumber would be good for that. Maybe NAFTA isn't such a bad idea after all.

But hurricanes rotate counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere. Probably was just easier to animate everything rotating the same way. Or maybe the video creator is from Australia or something.
