Your choice to believe something is your own option. Not science.
Given that your argument insists that evolution(ism) is a belief, how does what you offer be defined any less as a belief? If we cant agree on the evidence, is not everything we discuss basically a belief? I cant really see you claiming the high ground of facts when your "facts" are as disputed as their "facts".

We must realize that the Reformation world view leads in the direction of government freedom. But the humanist world view with inevitable certainty leads in the direction of statism. Re: Options smoptians
We reject your reliance on belief for the discipline of facts, evidence, logic and consistent reasoning.
No matter that everything to you is belief (that is, after all, all that your mind is capable of seeing) science eschews belief, especially your beliefs, because they are childish, undisciplined, self-serving and so often found to be, not just wrong, but dangerously wrong.
Your religion of faith-based belief is rejected. The discipline of science rules all.

pitter patter time to splatter
There is nothing about other people ALSO having beliefs that make you having beliefs a fact. You would need to show that any claims of science you make consist of more than beliefs splattered onto evidences.

Psychopathic Evil Religion
Science can act superior to faith-based belief because it *is* far superior to faith-based belief. You religious philistines had more that 3000 years of rule over the human mind and produced nothing but blood, death and misery.
Three hundred years of science has brought humanity to such greatness of culture and knowledge that now your gods, laying prostrate at our feet in subjugation, are publicly scorned in disgust known for what they are ... non-existent.

As I have pointed out, people with different beliefs can accept the same science. Even though the Bible portrays a young earth, most Christians accept the fact that the earth is old. They put the science before their beliefs. And even though Hinduism portrays an earth much older than it really is, most Hindus put the science ahead of their beliefs.
YOU need to show how people with very different religious beliefs can coincidentally have the same "beliefs" about science.

Re: Psychopathic Evil Religion
? Jesus ruled when He was here? Christians rule the world? It seems to me that the opposite is true. One example in the US is the mob rule lately with the little racist terrorists running amok and calling it protesting..

People can put their beliefs aside and give the beliefs of so called science priority. That does not mean the fables of origins science preaches are anything else but the belief based baloney they are.

You are obviously not an American. Just like your problem with science you cannot seem to recognize that greatest of American rights, the right to civil disobedience. To call them racist terrorists is your christian Nazi showing thru.

Re: Red and yellow black and white
The vast majority were peaceful and got assaulted by the gestapo police anyway and then, come to find out, most of the violent damage was done by Reich-wing plants there to cause trouble.
But then your religious bigotry won't allow you to see or acknowledge this.

Re: Red and yellow black and white
Oh, I agree. But who are the terrorists? The peaceful marchers being gassed and beaten for protesting or the reich-wing thugs carrying guns, throwing bricks and driving their cars into crowds?
One of the historical problems societies have had is reich-wing political and religious leaders labeling political opponents as "terrorists" while they spur on their own followers to greater violence. That is what Trump and his reich-wing media mouthpieces do so effectively.

Re: Red and yellow black and white
Absolutely agree Paul.
Getting to Berlin is not an easy job for most of us, but if anyone reading this ever goes there, the thing which should be at the absolute top of the list is a visit to the Holocaust memorial.
Within the field of multi-sized coffin shapes, representing the 6 million victims of vile torture and murder perpetrated by the followers of the sort of hatred and evil which dad seems to support, there is a museum, recording the awful journey which Germany took to reach that horror.
So much has stayed with me from that visit, but three things are worth a mention today, seeing as we do the rise of alt right fascists and populism in the supposedly free world today:
1. It is the only museum I have ever been in where I have heard people openly weeping in the rooms. It is truly a heart rending experience.
2. The parallels between what happened in Germany, leading to the rise of populist right wing evil, and what is happening in the West are terrifying. If you want evidence of this, read Hitler’s passages about propaganda from Mein Kampf - they’re on the internet here Propaganda in Nazi Germany - Wikipedia . It’s describing Trump’s playbook.
3. I cannot put it better than a quotation by Primo Levi, a holocaust survivor, which quotation is writ large at the entrance to the museum:
We must be listened to: above and beyond our personal experience, we have collectively witnessed a fundamental unexpected event, fundamental precisely because unexpected, not foreseen by anyone. It happened, therefore it can happen again: this is the core of what we have to say. It can happen, and it can happen everywhere.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

You're just repeating yourself. Unless you can show HOW people with different beliefs can come from so many different directions and coincidentally happen on the same conclusions about science, you have no leg to stand on.
