Come on now.
I try to speak out against all the jerks I find across the spectrum
So do I.
And people can't stand it because they know they're being wrong, period.
Being right is incredibly serious business.
I also will not let people use my own morality against me.

Either that or you can't read minds; and the amusement you cause amongst others is neither something that they find hard to stand nor caused by an appreciation of their own errors.
Being right is incredibly serious business.
Being a pompous hypocrite, on the other hand, has a certain comedy value.
I also will not let people use my own morality against me.
If by this cryptic phrase you mean that you're a hypocrite, I think we've noticed.

If by this cryptic phrase you mean that you're a hypocrite, I think we've noticed.
All you're doing is proving my points for me. I must've really touched a nerve to get you this riled up. This is a standard tactic as well.
I was not trying to be a troll. I was not trying to accuse any specific person on this forum. You are taking this way too personally so it must be true. Otherwise you'd shut up and let things be.
Or you're just being an ass for the sake of being an ass.
I repeat.
I was not trying to be a troll or an ass with my statements.
It never fails when I'm talking about other peoples' behavior that someone gets this angry and takes it personally. If it's not about you you shouldn't be angry.
If I have to I will put you on ignore.
And I do offer my apologies to the forum. I was not trying to be an ass or a troll, and I'm sorry if it seemed that way.
Edited by Tram law, : Added apology to the forum

Tram Law, meet Dr. Adequate.
I don't think that big A in his avatar stands for adequate...
Sure he's an ass, but he's a hilarious witty ass.
I doubt he's riled up at all. This is the internets, man.

It has sometimes seemed that way. But that appearance has been a bit ambiguous, so I have been giving you the benefit of the doubt.

All you're doing is proving my points for me.
I hardly see how that can be so --- unless, of course, you are a diverse group of people with heterogeneous views, in which case I apologize to them unreservedly for the unjust and offensive imputation that they all think like you.
I must've really touched a nerve to get you this riled up.
Or, back in the real world, you must have really amused me to elicit this amount of humorous derision.
You are taking this way too personally so it must be true.
It is indeed me "personally" mocking your hypocrisy. Such tasks, I feel, are not best handled by a committee. Were one formed, I should decline to be a member.
How this leads you to believe that this unnamed "it" must be true is beyond my powers of conjecture. I can read your posts --- you alone have the doubtful pleasure of reading your mind.
Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

It can't be done. Other than simply not reading your posts / not reacting to them.

Targetting "The Line"
Against my better judgement I am going to get all serious in this thread and suggest that there is "a line" over which comedy becomes abuse. Purely to disagree. Because I am an argumentative sod and I have had a few beers this eve.
Imagine the (admittedly extreme to make a point) scenario. You are a comic in a bar where you are about to do a set in a couple of hours. You talkin to the barman. He points out a guy in the corner in a wheelchair. He tells you that few weeks ago this guy got drunk, crashed his car, killed his only kid in the process and ended up a paraplegic.
You, being the cutting edge comic you are, go off and write a load of material that directly relates to this story.
In your set an hour or so later you intentionally engage this guy, who is as you know out for the evening to forget his woes, in audience participation conversation. You bring up his tragic situation. You rip the piss about him for being a dickless cripple who will never fuck again. An impotent kidless invalid who will die alone. You make fun of the fact that his only kid is dead and looking down on him thinking what a fuckin loser he is if there is any afterlife at all which there probably isn't while his dead son gets eaten by worms.
Now I don't care how good your material is. I don't give a fuck how funny the audience thinks this is. You have crossed a line. And frankly deserve a kicking for it.
Now - Is this level of tergetting even possible as it pertains to a group rather than an individual? I don't know.
I guess my point is that blithely saying "there is no line" isn't a sufficient argument. Because there is a degree of targetting, victimisation and abuse (as per the extreme scenario above) that surely anyone would consider to have "crossed the line".
No?

So why do you get to impose your will upon an entire crowd of people? Why is only your morality the only correct one?
This is how things get really screwy in America. A small amount of people think something is wrong so they've got to change it for themselves and to hell with anybody else.
Some people have problem with curse words like fuck so in most cases we can't say these words in public or on TV because three or four people out of ten thousand people can't stand hearing it and will use flimsy excuses like it's harmful to children. Saying these words is crossing a line and one that must be stopped from crossing. Same thing for nudity. But as long as it's somebody being shot it's okay.

Re: Targetting "The Line"
Yeah he laughs himself all the way through the set.
Then he commits suicide later that evening.
You (i.e, assuming the role of the comic in question) feel any responsibility at all?

So there is no line at all?
I (somehow) find out you privately gay. You agree that I can send a series of jokes and pics disclosing this fact to your family because I find it funny to do so?
