Re: The Republicans Try, Try Again
How precisely is it an improvement to remove 30 million people from having health insurance? How does this benefit our country?
The conservatives here have already explained this a dozen times, but I will recap.
1. If you die because you cannot afford health insurance while trying to put food on the table, well then by electing to feed your hungry children, you are experiencing "freedom".
2. Jimmy is going to use some of that there health insurance for a sex-change, and I don't want to pay for that even if it means I myself cannot afford my blood pressure medicine. More Freedom.
3. Hispanics are going to be treated in hospitals. Probably some Mexicans. And Obama's birth certificate. Nuff said.
4. Don't they have universal health care in Finland? That's stuff is for commies and it makes the lines for getting my hangnail treated too long.
4a. USA, USA, USA

Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846)
I was thinking as long as I have my hands up they’re not going to shoot me. This is what I’m thinking they’re not going to shoot me. Wow, was I wrong. -- Charles Kinsey
We got a thousand points of light for the homeless man. We've got a kinder, gentler, machine gun hand. Neil Young, Rockin' in the Free World.
Worrying about the "browning of America" is not racism. -- Faith
I hate you all, you hate me -- Faith

1. If you can afford your own health insurance you don't need government assistance,
2. If you can't afford your own health insurance you don't deserve government assistance.

Re: The Republicans Try, Try Again
And it looks like John McCain is saying 'no' to this latest version of the repeal effort:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/...8d-cf053ff30921_story.html
quote:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced Friday that he does not support the latest Republican effort to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, dealing a major and potentially decisive blow to the last-ditch attempt to fulfill a seven-year GOP promise.
McCain’s comments came on the same day that Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who like McCain, voted against a GOP repeal bill in July, said she was likely to oppose the proposal, leaving the legislation on the brink of failure.
I still think this is McCain giving the proverbial 'middle finger' to Trump in lieu of Donald's comments about his war record.

Add in the fact that McCain isn't running for reelection and probably has terminal cancer, and you suddenly have a senator that has run out of fucks to give. If I were McCain, I wouldn't want this albatross of a health care bill hanging on my legislative legacy as I leave office.
