To emphasise the point that it is not all Republicans Gabriel Stirling, an election official in Georgia has spoken up, asking Trump to stop inspiring people to commit violence. And I bet the death threats from Trump supporters have already started.
In Florida, Governor diSantis lifted Coronavirus restrictions. Rebekah Jones was ordered to manipulate the data to cover up the problems. She refused and was fired for it. She blew the whistle and started an independent report.
Now she’s been raided by armed State Police with drawn weapons. Her computers have been confiscated. All because she is alleged to have sent a bulk message to state employees urging them to whistle-blow on the ongoing data manipulation. Security on the system is laughable - there is a single user Id and password which everyone uses.
Texas is suing Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on the grounds that States aren’t allowed to adjust voting procedures just because of an inconvenient pandemic.
Given that the Constitution assigns State legislatures the right to decide how the electors are chosen for their State that seems insane to me. But Republicans have to try anything in their quest to steal the election.
I can’t imagine the Supreme Court taking this one. Even the Texas Solicitor General (who should be taking it on) refused.
From what I understand, most courts would reject this because it would have to have been brought up before the election, not after it just because you disagree with the outcome. I saw this on the video covering these shenanigans and they even had a legal term for it, but basically you can't complain about the voting rules after the election if there was time to bring up the complaint prior to the election.
It’s the Doctrine of Laches. But - as usual with these cases there’s a lot more wrong with it, and it goes against a lot of Conservative legal thinking.
