Re: retraction please......
I guess I was trying to say that the Bible is the 1st book and the Bible is still in circulation today.
I do apologise, but I am still unsure of what exactly it is you are saying here.
As you are a Christian, then the Bible to you includes the Old and New Testaments, therefore, are you saying that the original bible (Old + New Testaments) was the first book ever written?
Are you therefore claiming that the Bibles we have in circulation today are copies of the first ever book?
Whereas the Etruscan book in Bulgaria would be the oldest book in existence today.
Well the oldest comprehensive book. It is, of course, nowhere near the oldest text in existence, and neither, for that matter, is anything in the Bible.
Brian.

Yes, I had a few too many the other night. So nice that you understood. I guess apologies are not acceptable to you. Well, the heathen that I am, needs to be laughed at. I thought that your religion was one of tolerance and forgiveness. I guess that was just a disney world. Score one for Christ.

I really hope that you don't seriously think I was being mean spirited in my joking response to you the other day. I would hope that humor can work both ways here. -Z

Re: retraction please......
Again, I see your point. Yes, I guess I'm not thinking it through very well. I've heard many times that the Bible wasn't written in chronological order and it wasn't written all at once. It does cover the (what christians believe) beginning of time as we know it and everything since. Not too many books make that attempt. I guess that's what I was trying to get at. It cover the oldest known items ie.. the beginning. Other "completed" books were probably dating back further than the original "complete" Bible. Thnaks for keeping me on track. -Z

Done Reading Yet?
Zachariah,
You've left me hanging on our book of John discussion.
Have you read the OT yet to see if it corroborates the claims of the book of John?

Re: Done Reading Yet?
Nope. I'm in the book of Exodus currently. I haven't had alot of time to apply to it recently. Where we left off is probably where we will leave off I'm afraid. We both agree that almost all the backing for the statements made by John (as with the other gospels) were in the book of Isaiah. I haven't read it yet (Isaiah). I don't know where you stand on the prophecies from Isaiah. If youthink they are hogwash then we can stop here because I believe they are truely devine in there nature. What do you think? -Z

Discussion Concluded
I took the time to read the book of John three times with an open mind.
I get the feeling from your posts that you yourself have not read the book of John with a truly open mind or read it three times in a row.
I am disappointed that you haven't taken the time to read Isaiah so that we could have an open minded discussion about the book of John and the claims of the writer.
So since you have lost interest in this discussion and are not inclined to do the research, our discussion is concluded and I did not revert to Christianity.
Have a great summer!

Hi Zach,
I haven't read it yet (Isaiah). I don't know where you stand on the prophecies from Isaiah. If youthink they are hogwash then we can stop here because I believe they are truely devine in there nature. What do you think?
How can you have the conclusion that the prophecies from Isaiah are truly divine if you havent even read the Book of Isaiah yet?
You may be surprised to learn that the Book of Isaiah is actually an amalgamation of three different authors, so it would be difficult to attribute any prophecy contained therein to the actual prophet Isaiah, if indeed such a person ever existed.
You should try reading the Bible with an open mind, it is a much more fascinating collection of texts if you are not overly subjective.
Brian.

Re: Done Reading Yet?
Thanks for the input. I'll give the open mind thing a shot. I haven't thought of that. Open minded hmmmmm?
