You can only be awed by Hovind, that the IRS got all his financial records, yet Kent is still standing, though suppose if they tossed Hovind in Jail for abiding by the rules of 501 c3 tax exempt red tape, they would have to after bigger fish, like all the secular tax exempt foundations, like the freedom against religion foundation, that are bogging the courts with all their frivilous law suits with tax exempt money.
P.S. Likely until the IRS goes after the secular tax exempt foundations, Hovind will continue to be allowed to stand, what however is almost criminal is all the federal grants given to museums to promote the unscientific origin theory via Evolution, millions of dollars to promote TOE answers origin in the millions of tax dollars spent to present exibits as it was a fact such as that Lucy Walked to young children in public museums and with my tax dollars(perhaps equal grant moneys should be given to Kent Hovind so he could set up an exibit as a fact that there were giants in them days), so children could see the creationists view, however, Hovind recieves money by people donating, the public museums recieves some of its moneys via federal grants, its time to tighten the financial belt, and stop donating these biased federal grants to public museums, if you cut the purse strings they too would have to stand on public donations, like Kent Hovind is required to do, its the only fair thing to do, have an equal playing field, etc...

Actually, Kent Hovind is in trouble with the IRS for evading taxes and concealing income. He has never applied for and has no tax-exempt status. It really doesnt matter two figs what his beliefs are if he is breaking the law. Frankly, Kent Hovind can spout his silly ideas for the rest of his life, and I would be fine with fact that such a choice is a constitutional right of his. I do object to labeling his ideas scienctific, since if you logically examine any of his statements, they are either patently false, based on false premises, or just plain absurd. Many other creationist organizations make a point of distancing themselves from him and his ideas because his views and ideas are so preposterous that even they can't stomach his lies.

Hovind must be right about the tax thing or he would be in jail, was not the 501 c 3 thing about binding churches to separation of state garbage that was not within the constitution of the founding fathers, by not signing that, he is not bound to some federal mandate, yet in someway protected from being taxed, it would be interesting what the tax laws really say, etc...
P.S. Is not this 501 c3 a reason the churches are silent, perhaps one of the reasons Hovind is a bit vocal, he is not bound by the 501 c3 mandates that were put in place to silence the churches, and working quite well, though you have to really appreciate those that are not afraid to be the watchmen, Hovind has to take a lot of flak for his stand, but interestingly he's still is standing, etc...He has his testimony, though they might still toss him in jail, the fact he is still standing means he and others like him are vocal cause they didn't sign the 501 c3 and as a christian organization they are able to be express the freedoms of religion, as the founding fathers mean't it to be expressed, without the fetters of government separating the church from the process, as has been done via the 501 c3 threatening to tax them if they deviate from said signed agreements, etc...

Hovind must be right about the tax thing or he would be in jail, I'm sure that was never on the cards,so that is a strawman. The courts were happy just to bankrupt Dr.Dino.

When Bill Clinton was in office the IRS plagued Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and we see this abuse of powers bankrupting Kent a bit, though these Great Men of God are still standing, perhaps its time to do away with the IRS and go to a straight tax, for us lesser mortals, etc...
P.S. See no purpose to all the other foundations whose whole purpose is to attack people like Kent in the courts, to bankrupt them, using tax exempt money's, like whats happened to Judge Moore, who lost his retirement over separation of church and state issues. I agree with Charles Knight that they probably are quite happy to bankrupt those that disagree with their agenda's, and would be quite happy to tax churches that vary from said signed agreements. You can only respect someone that's fighting the fight, like Kent is, etc...Like whats the problem, with the free exercise of religious expression, apparently nothing after being bankrupted a bit in court, he's still standing, and quite vocal, etc...

I have no respect for him - he's a first-class liar. This message has been edited by Charles Knight, 08-04-2004 07:55 PM

The IRS is only doing what they are supposed to be doing.
None of these have anything to do with religion. Judge Moore got off easy. He should have been charged with Criminal Malfeasance in Office. Doc Dino is not filing Income Tax returns. Jim Bakker was a con man. They haven't caught Gene Scott, Jerry Falwell and Pat Roberston yet. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

You did say they were happy to bankrupt him, my point is that the reason was cause he is making a stand. It would be a great day for Americans if the Church's voice was not silenced, etc...
P.S. It's great to hear your not one of those that would be happy to bankrupt churches or Christian organizations that violate the 501 c3 agreements, that they should by free to be exercising their freedoms of religious expressions and free speech, etc...

Jar, Don't know much if anything about tax law, but thought religious organizations were tax exempt, that they didn't have to file, unless of course they signed a 501 c3 agreement, etc...
P.S. Thought the whole purpose was to create the 501 c3 was to get them to file something, but that it was not necessary, if they were not redefined into a corporation, by the 501 c3. Think Kent is likely walking down this thin line of interpretation within Federal Law, etc...
