Increasingly, science is producing hybrids, combinations of various animals. As mentioned in this MSNBC article such actions could have ethical implications.
Is this really an ethical issue?
Is it more a potential health concern?
Is it something that should be publicly debated?

Content level of message 1 pretty thin
Also, I don't know how long that link is going to remain valid.
I have seen examples in the past of simular sorts of citations, that either expire and go away, or have the content changed entirely from what was there when it was cited.
I think a few well chosen quotations are called for.
That said, for whatever it's worth, there is also the previously existing topic Immoral use of the Humanzee

Humans Behave Unlike Animals
I'm not sure what your point was 14 years ago, but if you mean is it a concern for one species of animal to breed with or become genetically fused to another, I'm not sure how humans would be involved, seeing as how we are the only species that even is capable of making such decisions.
Moreso, after reading the news this morning, I was impressed with how unlike animals humans actually are. We do things to each other that are far worse. No animals would ever band together to do something such as this:
Burundi village attack leaves 26 dead ahead of referendum How onearth could a group of extremists justify killing families simply to disrupt a referendum that they didnt like? Would any animal (or any other animal ) do something for this reason?
I've heard that chimpanzees can be quite violent, whereas Bonobos and even Gorillas are quite peaceful by comparison.

Re: Humans Behave Unlike Animals
Actually it is quite common for animals to band together to kill both their own species and other species. Many animals are territorial and will hunt and kill other members of their same species that enter or infringe on their territory. There are also examples of animals that will expand or move their territory driving out, killing or adopting the members of their species that are in the new territory.
Humans are just animals and so we often behave just like the other animals.
But the topic was meant to address the question of genetic engineering of humans as well as other species.
