well that was a fun little daydream.
the written version of gilgamesh is older than the hebrew people. the bible says abraham came from babylon. guess what that means. he brought much older myths with him. the story originates from around 2100 BCE. abraham left babylon around 1900 BCE. while possibly about the same flood, which preceded by about 2500 years (long enough for a good van winkle), the bible's writer(s) certainly didn't get it on paper before then. it probably wasn't even a matter of popular discourse at the time. now, if you're like me and have the opinion that genesis and exodus were written during the exile to give these crazy kids an identity, then it sure as crap is taken from the mesopotamian tale which was already in an established library by 700 BCE... the exile was not until 600BCE or so. well actually. there is nothing wrong with citing yourself if your statements were published in a peer reviewed journal. however, i'm sure this 'ancient american magazine' or whatever is not one of those. namely by the use of the word magazine. which also is a holder for bullets. a crude, coward's instrument of destruction. destruction often brings confusion and we're back at bab'el.
haha i play word games too. i'm worldwide bitch, act like ya'll don't know.

um. actually modern times refers to 1450 (well 1500) to current. why? think about it.
“garden of jeweled trees,”i can't believe you missed that. garden of jewelled trees. kinda like the tree of knowledge and the tree of life? shit no. how dumb is this guy that he doesn't see that? a story can talk about times and places long ago and in galaxies far far away, but that doesn't mean that's when and where it was written.NOOO!! princess laia was totally real and you're just a hater. They fail to see the parabolic textual meaningi think he means parable. also, the ark in genesis was 300x50x30 cubits. the one in gilgamesh was 120 cubits, cubed. (because it was a cube...) OMGZ gilgamesh are borg. i knew star trek was real.

i think the best way to date exodus (at least i think it's exodus) is to take note of when it says 'in those days, israel had no king'. if they didn't know that israel was going to have a king, this would mean nothing. thus it must have been written after israel had a king.
*edit* fatal error. i wrote before instead of after in the last sentence. oops. This message has been edited by brennakimi, 12-13-2005 01:21 PM

it would also be plausible if the books had any sort of voice continuity. if you read it to have the same author it's so jumpy and weird. people concentrating on different things and repeating themselves but in different words and contradicting themselves... weird. you'd have to be schitzo to write that on your own.
wait. maybe that explains it. voices, hallucinations... This message has been edited by brennakimi, 12-14-2005 09:48 AM

*edit*Studies in Relations between Palestine and Egypt during the First Millenium B. C.: II. The Twenty-Second Dynasty, Donald B. Redford, Journal of the American Oriental Society > Vol. 93, No. 1 (Jan., 1973), pp. 3-17 this suggests otherwise but i must look for more.
