Jesus wasn't proof, 2000 years ago? Or parting the sea, sending angels from heaven, that kind of thing? How come present day people are subject to this "test of faith" rule, while a couple thousand years ago they weren't?
Only certain people actually witnessed those miracles, because they were chosen by the Lord. All others have either heard about the miracles by the people who witnessed them, or learned about them form reading the Bible (which is just a written account of the same thing). People back then still had to have faith, because they had no material proof of those miracles ever taking place. (Heresay doesn't count.) After ressuraction Jesus appeared only to his apostles not all the people. By the same token, maybe miracles are still happenning, we just don't know about them or refuse to accept them for what they are.
