This link goes to a progressive non-profit media watchdog group which compiled a study which shows that there is a bias in favor of conservative guests on the three major political discussion shows, Face the Nation, Meet the Press, and This Week.
On February 14, Media Matters for America released a comprehensive study analyzing the guest appearances on ABC's This Week, CBS' Face the Nation, and NBC's Meet the Press from 1997 through 2005. In April, Media Matters released an update to that study, analyzing the shows for the first quarter of 2006. In both reports, the results demonstrated that Republicans and conservatives dominated on all three Sunday shows. Media Matters has now completed an analysis of the second quarter of 2006, April through June, and the key conclusions reached in the first two studies remain unchanged. Republicans and conservatives outnumber Democrats and progressives. More conservative journalists appear than progressive journalists. Panels are more likely to be imbalanced toward the right than toward the left. Republicans and conservatives are given more solo interviews. In short, the title we gave to our original study -- "If It's Sunday, It's Conservative" -- remains true. link to article

Their study may be accurate for all I know, but "progressive" is a synonym for "leftist." It's in fact the term the Communist Party chose to represent themselves to the American public in the early 20th Century.

FYI... Liberlism and Socialism (which are very different things) have little to nothing to do with Communism (which is an economic system with a command economy).
There are many, many, capitalist socialist democracies in the world... (in fact you actually live in one... although the US leans a bit more towards capitalism and less towards socialism than much of western europe)

It's in fact the term the Communist Party chose to represent themselves to the American public in the early 20th Century. Can you back this up? Everything I've been able to dig up on this suggests you're wrong. Specifically the Progressive Party of the early 20th. Century was not anything to do with the Communist Party. The Communists called themselves Communists from the formation of the Communist Party Of the USA in 1919 onwards, and prior to that Socialists. The Wikipedia article on progressivism in the US says modern progressivism is leftist, that of the early 20th. Century was not. Oops! Wrong Planet

quote: That's right. Did you read the article? Did you read how conservative journalists and Republicans are consistently more prevalent on the "leftist" media networks' their political shows? Did you read that the solo speeches on these shows were given to conservatives and Republicans much more frequently than to progressives or Democrats? Why would "leftist" networks would do this?
quote: So? Doesn't the content and accuracy of the article matter to you at all? Are you so incredibly biased against anything you don't already agree with that you refuse to even read it? Edited by schrafinator, : No reason given.

technically, liberalism refers to the ideology that individual liberties are superior to (generally) the divine right of kings, more broadly, it refers to any kind of democratic system which involves the common public in the government in any way, shape, or form.
even "american liberalism" refers to 'a broad political and philosophical mindset, favoring liberty, and opposing restrictions on liberty,' which is a traditionally CONSERVATIVE position. "liberals" used to be the ones in support of government restrictions.

I still believe in a lot of the same things. Weird how that works
