Re: Problems with Search
Here it is.
That's a coffee house thread.
I didn't manage to find the reference, but I seem to recall that Percy had to turn off indexing of the Coffee House because it was taking too long and causing the board to hang.
In the end I had to resort to google, ..
There's nothing wrong with using google to search evcforum.

dBcode "bgcolor" is broken
Source:
[bgcolor=green]paragraph-1
paragraph2[/bgcolor]
result:
paragraph-1
paragraph2
Notice that only the first paragraph has the specified color.
If I omit the final "[/bgcolor]", then I get an error on preview. However, there is no error for having "[/bgcolor]" at the end of the second paragraph, even though it is only applied to the first paragraph.
If bgcolor is only supposed to apply to one paragraph, then both the documentation and error message ought to reflect that. My suspicion is that it is intended to apply to the complete range embedded between "[bgcolor=green]" and "[/bgcolor]", but the current implementation is broken.
Incidently, I tried to make the subtitle:
[bgcolor] is broken
(use "peek" to see how I formatted that).
I found that wnenever I previewed, the formatting was stripped from the subtitle line as seen in the subsequent edit screen. Resubmitting for preview then resulted in an error flagged on that subtitle line. I could have kept restoring the subtitle line after each preview, but I decided that it was risky - it might break something else in the forum software.

Both green for me. What Browser are you using?
Interesting comment.
I'm using firefox.
I just fired up opera, to test an alternative. Only the first line is green in opera.

I see what you mean. The "all topics" display shows 14 pages (I uses 20 messages per page). So I click on the number 14. It takes me to page 14, except that the page display bar on that page indicates that I am on page 13. There are actually 15 pages, but page 15 doesn't show up in the page display.
My normal practice is to click on the last message (the one listed in the "all topics" display). That is taking me to the last page without problems.
unlike the refusal of my profile to update my read/unread posts history ...

I only acces EvC with or ...
Me too.
But every now and then, I fall into a trap. Somebody posts a link to another message, and that link is to just (without the "www."). If I click on that link, it screws up my cookies. I usually notice it, and go to the firefox cookie manager to clean out the junk.
My point is, that this can happen without you noticing.

Time is off by one hour
Perhaps the end of daylight savings time was missed?

DNS woes
Over the last few days, I have several times noticed delays or failures in evcforum access, due to DNS lookup failures. At present, I am unable to lookup the IP address of either or using my ISP's DNS server or using my own caching DNS server. From my office machine, I was able to lookup but not (apparently the first happened to be in cache).
For the moment, I have added an entry to "/etc/hosts" - otherwise I would be unable to access the site to post this message.
