Re: robins thread about logic
It seems to me that the OP needs an outline of what Robin would consider to be logic and maybe a short example of that in practice ?
I would suggest that needs to be in place before that topic is promoted.

Re: robins thread about logic
When have I ever condemned you except for your continually and sarcasticly bringing up my problem with your "logic" every time you care to comment?
The only thing I ever did was criticize your mode of argument. If you consider that condemnation then may I suggest you get some thicker skin. Never did I intend to make personal any of those posts you built your grudge around.

No, I didn't mean your comments were personal. What I meant was that it's not a particular argument of mine that you are saying is "bogus," but any and all arguments of mine.
It's this relegation of the ability to think logically to a tiny select group that is so disturbing.

Re: robins thread about logic
Robin and Jazzns,
Please go to your respective corners! This is not a debate thread as AdminJar has already stated.
Robin, you have work to do on your OP if you want it promoted. As you can see, your peers also feel you need to decide if this is a personal problem with Jazzns or you really want a general discussion.
Do not debate it here. If you continue to debate it in this thread, your topic definitely will not be promoted and you'll receive a timeout.
As usual, Please direct any comments concerning this Admin msg to the Moderation Thread.
Any response in this thread will receive a 24 hour timeout.
Thank you Purple

    PD
How about a thread based on this idea? I could re-work it.
It's this relegation of the ability to think logically to a tiny select group that is so disturbing.
I think that's really the heart of the matter--the more I consider it.

    Re: PD
I know this is not a debate thread but maybe it will help robin craft what he really wants to do in his topic.
It's this relegation of the ability to think logically to a tiny select group that is so disturbing.
I never insinuated that you were excluded from using logic. Just that were not doing so and yet claiming it. If you want to start your thread to examine why I think your arguments are not actually logical and why you think they are then I think that would be a worthwhile endevor.
If you just want to complain about me pointing out that the basis for all of your arguments in that vein of discussion is just a strong form of opinion then please do not bother.

    new topic proposal
I'm thinking about something called "the boasts of atheists," about how happy they are and how moral they are and so forth.
That's what irritates me so much.
    I will name names.

    re-open thread?
Could you re-open the thread "Boasts of Atheists" so I could present my summary statement? I have worked on it diligently.

Riverrat's women's rights thread... please promote the bloody thing. I can understand when the OP isn't so well thought out or written, but it has turned into a debate between admins. Frankly, I see nothing wrong with the original OP. If admins don't like the tone of it, just throw it into the coffee house and get it over with. Either that or close it down.

timothy44 and his definition of atheism thread
timothy44 has a proposed topic on the definition of atheism. While I am not a big fan of the PNT procedure, we do have it, and in that spirit I am wondering what I read to be AdminAsgara's opinion that this might eventually be a suitable topic for discussion. But do we really need an entire thread about the definition of atheism?
At the very least, if it is decided to eventually promote the topic timothy44 should be required to justify why he thinks it's important to discuss it.

Attn RAZD: Re: Your mega-PNT in progress
While your "Age Correlations and An Old Earth, Version 2 Part I" topic is looking to be quite a opus (insert favorite Penguin joke here), it seems to be way to massive and diverse to qualify as a proper debate topic (not that that stopped the previous edition).
Perhaps the thing to do is to file it in the "Columnist Corner" forum as a reference paper, but have said topic closed to dabate. The URL would be a good thing for you to have in your "signature".
More specific aspects of of it can then be spun-off as more focused new topics.

It really is not much longer than the original, mostly rearranged a little and with some new information incorporated.
It seemed to me that using replies to break up the "opus" would make it more accessible and lead to discussions on the different parts (some of which never got attention in the old format.
Thanks for holding off on commenting on the thread itself - I appreciate that. I have about 3 more "replies" to go to be done before starting (ug) cleanup, but don't know when I'll get to them ... it's too late tonight.
Let me finish and then we can discuss this issue.
