Re: Bump for Randman
Also, I don't mind doing a second book at the same time. It just seemed as though picking a book that expresses the opposite opinion given that we may not have a good foundation on what the original opinion is would be difficult. I certainly don't just want to grab any other pro-religious book. I would prefer one that is along the same lines of science and religion. I don't know how well the book you proposed does that based on your description.

Of course, biblical creationists are committed to belief in God's written Word, the Bible, which forbids bearing false witness; --AIG (lest they forget)

Re: Getting Started
You could mail it but no, expecting a return in the whirlwind of stuff around here is a long shot.....better not to waste time and money, and I just buy it.
I am pushed now for a couple of days at least. I'll watch the video and talk on friday. The book I am talking about is not a scientific defense of theism, but I'd recommend it to you personally, just so you can see a bit of where I am coming from in terms of the view of reality.
Some things won't be settled because I beleive and Christianity imo recognizes that God set it up so that in order to move deeper into reality, it takes faith, and faith in some respects is hostile to the scientific method. It's not that the faith perspective doesn't match the facts. It matches them perfectly, but it's more than that. It governs the facts and physical reality, and that's something in which it takes faith to even understand. Without even understanding the concept, it's especially hard not to think it's insane and doubt it.
Man is in an unusual predicament, but there are enough mercies to carry us along if we just realized it.

A new great debate
I'm not sure where I'm supposed to propose this, but I'd like to have a great debate with the same topic as for this.
A personal morality
It's just getting drifted offtopic about, well, everything. It's getting confusing trying to find the few posts that are on topic amongst all that dribble.
So I'd like to have a great debate with the two people that were willing to stay on topic for the whole time. crashfrog and Chiroptera.
Am I supposed to make the thread in Proposed new topics and an admin promotes it to great debate or how does this work?
Oh yeah, I hope crash and Chiro are also willing for this. The pace will not be fast 'cause I can answer only about every other day.

Re: A new great debate
Approach Crash and Chiroptera in the open thread and invite them to a Great Debate.
If they agree, then you can prepare an opener, if you don't want to use the same one, and I'll put it in the Great Debate Forum.
Let me know.

Neutralmind has proposed a "GD" vs. Crashfrog and Chiroptera
At the A personal morality" topic.
Please discuss the matter in this topic and NOT at the above cited.

Re: Neutralmind has proposed a "GD" vs. Crashfrog and Chiroptera
I guess I replied in the wrong thread.
How do you want to do it? Usually we go ten posts by each side, but it seems like you either want to do this three-way or two on one (depending on whether or not Chiro and I view each other as being on the same "side.")
Chiro and I could trade off, or I guess you could deal with posts from each of us. Whatever you're up for.

It would be go the same way as in the previous thread. You and Chiro replying on your own to me and I'd replying to both of you. That okay?

I would be happy to discuss the Christian Cult of Ignorance with Phat in a Great Discussion format.

Re: Phat's proposed PNT
Excellent. As soon as the Phat man responds as to whether that is indeed what he intended with his PNT, I'll set it up.
