Hi admins!
Phat was wondering how to change chat names but was a little too shy to ask you, so I have done it for him. You may know, he has admin privileges in chat, so that is not an issue. He seems to be having trouble changing a name back if he changed it to a name with spaces to begin with. Example: He changed 'Jon' to 'JR Ewwwwing', but claims that he cannot change it back now that it has a space in it.
Perhaps someone would be able to give him instructions? I don't really like to sign out and back in again each time he pulls these pranks.
Thanks,
Jon

Having trouble with the chat administrator? I'll have a talk with him...he really needs to show you more respect!
Add by Edit: Apparently, a name can be changed initially to any other name regardless of spacing. When I attempt to change the name back, however, the space between JR and Ewwwwing prevents the name from being changed back.

What Is A Discussion Board Anyway?

  • New Topics should be supported with evidence and/or reasoned argumentation. Keep them short and don't attempt to explain your entire point in the first post. Allow others to respond so that you can expand your discussion.
  • If you are warned by an administrator or moderator for any reason that is not explained in the Forum Guidelines you can argue your case here.
  • If you are not promoted, feel free to discuss your reasons with the administrator in the Proposed New Topics Forum who responded to your topic proposal. Feel free to edit and modify your topic and inform the administrator that you have done so.
You may also take your argument here and get feedback from other administrators.
Usually, we leave topic promotion to the first administrator that responds, unless that administrator invites others to comment.

Not sure I understand the issue. One guess I have is that this is a request to have your chat room alias follow any changes to your EvC Forum alias without having to leave and reenter the chat room. If that's correct then this isn't possible, and if it's not then I need more information.

    explaining to the Boss
Percy, what happened is that I jokingly changed Jons chat name...which he normally doesn't mind...but being a bit grumpy this day, he insisted that I change it back....which I was unable to do.
apparently, when the chat administrator first changes any given name, they can use the /fnick name any other name feature and the change will pick up the spaces. In changing the name back, however, we are unable to say /fnick (any other name) (next name) because the system only picks up the word, "any" (first word of name) and then tells us that "any" is not logged in.
When Jon gets testy with me, he insists that I act my age and chooses to nitpick at my position of responsibility. Perhaps I should act more professional so as to be an effective role model for our temperamental young Minnesota lad!
