Thanks a lot, Juggs, it was so sweet of you to go to the trouble.
IU is, indeed, hiring Psychology faculty this year, but Zhimbo is both unqualified and uninterested in applying there.
Let me explain.
Psychology is an enormous field with many sub-fields. To give you an idea, Zhimbo got his PhD at the #2 ranked Psychology program in the country and there were over 100 faculty in the department. His sub-field, the Cognitive group, consisted of around 18 faculty.
The reason he is unqualified for the Psychology faculty position that IU is hiring for this year is because they are not looking for a
Cogitive Psychologist. So it would be pointless for him to apply.
Next, the reason he is uninterested in IU specifically is because it it a "research institution". He would much prefer a job at a "teaching institution". Smaller, very selective liberal arts schools require more of the sort of professional life he wants; small faculty/student ratios, emphasis on great teaching rather than pressure to produce a lot of research, etc.
Again, thanks for posting this link. IU has a very good Psychology program, to be sure, but it just isn't what we're looking for.
