Get off this Hill Billy schtick! You are more intelligent than you would have us believe! 1. How did evolutionists come to the conclusion that they are more valuable people?Phat writes: I dont think it is necessary evolutionists. It is educated folks in general. Since they value education as an evolution of human progressive thought and understanding, they feel that they have a better understanding of reality than otherwise uneducated folk. (My guess is through some sort of empiricism or imperialism or something.) And perhaps more importantly: 2. What might the future implications of this trend be? (I'd say things don't look so good for the evolushun of us hillbillies.) The beef that many educated people have against Bible raised creationists is that they feel that the creationists refuse to learn about anything else other than what they are taught. Arrogant? Perhaps.

Dude!
I responded your rant with a rant. As difficult as this may be for you to accept, you responded to a well thought out, reasoned position .......with a rant.Isn't that what this thread is about? Random rants from deep down years of anger from oppression? That seems to be your position. For my position please refer to the OP.Frankly, I'm sick and tired of seeing women in positions of power. I'm also sick and tired of black people being treated as equal. They ain't no equal to me. Yikes! The bible specifically says that women should STHU in the church. Um, dare I ask? ...Chapter and verse please.I mean, doesn't anyone care about god's laws anymore? No, not many do.

"Um, dare I ask? ...Chapter and verse please." 1Cr 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 1Cr 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Modulous, You write
Naturally, possessing a high level of education has high value in the market place - those with higher education are, in general, given higher waged jobs. There is demand for higher levels of education. Though also, there is value in experience. So one might consider that in general someone with a degree and 5 years work experience is more valuable to the market than someone who dropped out of high school and sat around watching Oprah for 15 years. Thank you for being the first to answer my question.1. How did evolutionists come to the conclusion that they are more valuable people? So, you used the "scientific method" I see.So if evolutionists believe, as you claim, that they are more valuable people - who or what do they think are they more valuable to? I don't know. Perhaps not hillbillys......No wait.......... They think they are more valueable TO hillbillies then hillbillies are to themselves.. Ya. So what's the problem? Stating an observed fact about how the market values certain things shouldn't be problematic should it?
They think they are more valueable TO hillbillies then hillbillies are to themselves.. I don't think I am more valuable to you than you are to yourself. I can't see any evidence of this in the quotes you provided.

Hi Modulous,
Modulous writes: I don't think I am more valuable to you than you are to yourself. Mod I think you are very valuable to me because I am ignorant when it comes to science. So I thank you for your patience in explaining things and not being one of those Hill Billy is refering too. Hill Billy if you read this Modulous is very valuable. Have fun, "John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Since they value education as an evolution of human progressive thought and understanding, they feel that they have a better understanding of reality than otherwise uneducated folk. I think you might be right. Educated folk feel superior.Get off this Hill Billy schtick! Oh no, not you to Phat! I assure you the hillbilly thing ain't no schtick. I'm confident I would fill all the requirements. Right down to the old coils and tanks out in the shed. You are more intelligent than you would have us believe! Thanks for the complement. I must however state that I leave the relative level of my own intelligence open to question. The beef that many educated people have against Bible raised creationists is that they feel that the creationists refuse to learn about anything else other than what they are taught. Ya, that ain't so hard to understand seein as we have all had to deal with that frustration ( someone who refuses to learn.)but that behavior is not exclusive to creationists.Arrogant? Perhaps. Who? Just kidding. I think...... "Some people spout bullshit just to hear their own heads rattle" Grampa Frame.

Okay, now you're just getting more cryptic. On the one hand, you claim your beef is with "evolutionists", and specifically with what you perceive is arrogance on the part of "educated" evolutionists. On the other, you now claim you have no problem with education in the field. So which is it? If you have no problem with education, no problem with the life sciences, etc, why single out people who accept evolution?
My position is clear. Evolutionists feel superior. You proved it by suggesting I may have more education then I claim. Now you're just playing silly games. You may have a third grade education or whatever it is you claim, but you picked up an excellent command of English somewhere along the way. Perhaps you'd be willing to explain how acknowledging this proves I feel superior?
Ok, the point of the story is that while the city slicker displayed disdain toward the farmer, the farmer displayed concern toward the city slicker. Get it? No, I don't "get it". Both people in your little story think the other is a loser - the "city slicker" thinks the farmer is an ignorant git, the farmer thinks the city slicker is a clueless idiot. No concern there, as far as I can see. Unless there's more to the story than you are sharing.

"The bible specifically says that women should STHU in the church." Thank you so much for contributing. I love scripture! I was kinda hopin Taz would go lookin for it but hey, there it is, proof that the bible does NOT specifically say
"women should STHU in the church." It says1Cr 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law. Now we could debate that they "mean" the same thing but that ,I'm confident, would be off topic. 1Cr 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. On the other, you now claim you have no problem with education in the field. I don't know about cryptic, based on that, you seem to get me just fine.If you have no problem with education, no problem with the life sciences, etc, why single out people who accept evolution? Because there is such an abundance of material to support the case. Now you're just playing silly games. You may have a third grade education or whatever it is you claim, but you picked up an excellent command of English somewhere along the way. Some here have already strongly debated that very point.Perhaps you'd be willing to explain how acknowledging this proves I feel superior? It may have had something to do with your suggestion that I was being disingenuous about my lack of education. No, I don't "get it". quote:You know, nitpicking is viewed by many as just a form of intellectual dishonesty. Consider the following. Lawyer: Mr. Johnson, did you or did you not hit little Billy with your car? Defendant: No, sir, I did not. Lawyer: But I have here a police report saying you confessed to the police at the scene of the accident that you ran over little billy with your car. Defendant: I was driving my van. Technically, it's not a car. This form of intellectual dishonesty (nitpicking) might make you look smart among your friends, but it will never get you far in life. You are complaining that "educated" people look down on uneducated folks. This is why. "Educated" people debate with each other honestly and in good faith. They pay close attention to important details while discarding the unimportant ones. "Uneducated" people seem to only be able to nitpick the semantics, make a big deal out of unimportant details while ignoring the important ones, and then pat themselves on the back. On the social side, nobody likes nitpickers. In my freshman year, I befriended a smart-wannabe who was constantly nitpicking everything I said. One night, we were watching an episode of star trek deep space nine when about 3,000 jem hada warships with hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of crewmen and soldiers onboard were wiped out of existence by a group of god-like aliens called the prophets. I said that I kinda felt sorry for those people even though they were the bad guys. This friend of mine had to comment that those people didn't exist so technically I couldn't feel sorry for them. I thought for a moment and then responded, "ok, so I feel sorry for the idea that millions of people were wiped out of existence in a split second." I stopped hanging out with that guy and I don't think he made many friends because when you talk to him he constantly nitpick every word you say rather than paying attention to what you are saying. Intellectual dishonesty, nothing more.

This month's installment of creationist humility, as brought to you by fstdt.
Guzman writes: The whole scientific establishment is in shambles. They don't know what DNA is...they don't know where it came from....they don't know what it does...they don't know how the information got there.....they don't know what role it plays (if any) in the construction of organisms -- they simply don't know jack, and now their explanations are borderlining on the mentally insane. But these answers will never be had because the painful reality and truth is these answers are not to be found in the physical....the physical is just a manifestation of the mind. By looking at molecules, science isn't looking at the cause of anything; they're looking at the effects. DNA doesn't control life; life controls DNA....therefore stuyding DNA is mostly a waste of time and money...for it will provide answers to nothing. truant writes: Are They Nuts?!? If Evolution by either random or deterministic selection was possible.. THERE WOULD BE A FOSSIL RECORD!Try and explain that with a fancy new experiment we're all supposed to swallow just because it got published. Nice. Study genestics and it is obvious to anyone of mean intelligence that so called macro evolution isn't possible. speadingtheword writes: Does being too open minded cause people to think too much and question too much? YES Is it dangerous to think too much, and question too much? YES Is it dangerous to know too much? YES Does knowledge ultimately reduce peoples fear of God? YES Is it better to be closed minded - secure in the knowledge that God has told you everything that you need to know? YES We really need to put the breaks on science. Scientists should only be allowed to study what needs to be studied as decided by the people. guzman writes: none of that matters...all that matters is that ToE is exposed for being a piece of garbage...after that I honestly could care less, as I hate science. lucan, on the death of Carl Sagan writes: Campus Preacher noted: God even had mercy on poor old Carl Pagan. He gave him bone cancer and time to think about it. It obviously didn’t work. Therefore we must conclude, that geniuses like Carl Pagan and others can (Richard Dawkins probably will) and do and did go to Hell. Is Evolution v. Creation an issue in Hell? On that subject. It looks like to me God also had mercy on Steven Hawking. God allowed/gave him ALS when he was 21 to get his attention. It didn’t work. Looks like Hawking will go to to Hell too. unfir_commander writes: It is not known whether God created oil when he made the earth 6000 years ago, or whether oil and coal deposits were generated during Noah's flood 4000 years ago. It does not mattter. What does matter is if you don't believe that God created the earth 6000 years ago, you are going to Hell. Editor-Surveyor writes: It has been proven to rational, intelligent people, beyond a shadow of doubt, that dynos and humans have coesisted. j writes: their was no death until adam and eve sinned, so evolution wouldn't be work, if God wanted to use evolution to create the world he couldhave, but you need to know God creates everything right the first time, so evolution is one big fat joke, u feel me dog And then you wonder why I occasionally feel superior to them. Well, dammit, I'm only human. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.
