So, Am I being clear?
I think it is perfectly clear. Paul was talking about speaking in tongues and prophesying. Since those gifts are not operative today why can't they speak as my ladies even ask questions during the sermon. But they ask me as I am the one lecturing. I even encourage anyone to ask questions.
God Bless,

Double double ?
I think it is perfectly clear. Paul was talking about speaking in tongues and prophesying.
I get this.
I understand your thinking.
So, that's three different opinions of exactly what that scripture says.
Taz thinks it means STHU in church.
You think speaking in tongues is the issue at hand. (which I never thought of by the way.)
Then I think it's a legal issue.... Ain't no law.
Funny
Now here's something else I found interesting.
The passage is not just about speakin in tongues and such, so much as it is about what other folks think about what your sayin and doin. Isn't it?
Which, as anyone who is followin along would see, is what this thread is about.
By the way, I'm no troll. It's just that there's some folks here that I would like to come to some sort of agreement with. An understanding, if you will.
Now you might think I have a strange way of goin about it, tryin to get an agreement that is, and I'm sure you'd be right, but I don't want folks thinkin that just cause I wanna agree means I'm gonna swallow any bull.
If you know what I mean.

What has a strange way of getting information to do with it. I am sure if you follow me much you will think I do strange things sometimes.
After all this is a debate board. I learned a little about debating in High school about 54 years ago. You need to get the opposition to answer your question giving you the answer you expect and want.
You think speaking in tongues is the issue at hand. (which I never thought of by the way.)
After studying it for 45+ years I am pretty convinced the churches were having a problem with speaking in tongues and prophesying that no body could learn anything in the service and Paul was trying to put an end to the confusion. The Corinth church was a very large church.

Dr.Eh?
Well, the moral seems to be that actual experts who do have the proper training and education are superior in expertise to people who aren't and who don't.
Yes, I suppose.
It seems that judges and juries believed this fellow had " expertise."
I believe I read somewhere that your field is mathematics. Hope I got that right.
Now, you know exactly what qualifications you possess, thats clear, but how do I. Know that is.
My question is:
How do YOU know who to trust?
Cause, don't forget what Nator said:
The only thing any of us have to go on here is what we read, you know.

There's something in them thar Hills
I didn't realize that the stereotypical hillbilly frequented science-themed internet debate boards.
I'm not surprised.
I fact I wonder if you know anything about any of the people you so gratuitously apply stereotypes to.
For example, were you aware of the generations old hillbilly tradition of
troll hunting?

"Just cause what I say pisses you off does not mean that I said it just to piss you off." Me
" Who the *$%* is Jimmy V ?" Some drunk guy in a bar.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCMENT !
Due to the recent implementation of the governments catch and release policy regarding
trolls there has been an explosion in the troll population in this area.
To aid you in a safe and rewarding internet experience
Hill Billy Publications is pleased to bring you,
The quik reference
TROLL IDENTIFICATION
GUIDE
(Abridged.)
In this region the most common troll varieties are :
Trollus assholeus interuptus.
Commonly know as the Tazmainian troll this varmit can regularly be seen Randomly flailing
from one topic to another, arms and legs akimbo, causein quite a ruckus.
Although frightening in appearance this troll is harmless, as it has no teeth.
If you encounter a tazmainain troll, just confront it and it will run away and hide,
leaving only a foul aroma and a slight sense of bewilderment.
Trollus scientificus assholeus.
Also known as the snarky troll, this may be the most intelligent and dangerous variety.
Masters of intimidation and camouflage they are often seen cloaked in scientific degrees.
Using their vast knowledge of a very narrow field to distract their prey, they convince
the unwitting participant that this actually means something.
To determine if you are encountering a snarky troll merely ask a question. If the word
"snark" appears in the answer, you have.
Call it by name and, you guessed it, it runs away.
Trollus domesticus.
Often mistaken as a sad and lonely person the domestic troll may seem quite harmless
but this troll must be approached with extreme caution for it is the keeper of the
troll dinner bell.
For a demonstration of the troll dinner bell and an actual, live troll feeding frenzy

Re: Hey, that's not bad!
1. How did evolutionists come to the conclusion that they are more valuable people?
I am really going to take you serious for the moment but the hilarity arising from this topic makes this difficult. Bare with me. I can't help it, it's the little devil in me.
Seriously, taking it as true that : evolutionists believe themselves more valuable and taking it that the value is placed on levels of education, in turn showing levels of intelligence, then I would say the answer is : because they don't actually feel valuable as human beings alone. They need a label that lifts them high enough to look down on someone else to make them feel better about themselves.
Why do you think it is?

Re: Hey, that's not bad!
To be honest, this is just so much garbage. I can't stop you spouting garbage and I don't think I'm a more valuable person just because you spout garbage, but think on this.
There are many people on this board who go out of their way, take time to research things and draw upon their own experience to try to help people who want to learn something. Now, I could be doing my own work, or I could be playing with my son, or watching TV, or having fun on my horse, but I'm not. I'm taking time out to try to help people who want to know something.
If I was hung up on me being more "valuable" that the people who ask questions, then I wouldn't be here and neither would many of the other people on here, I suspect.
The reaction you are getting has bugger all to do with the value that "evolutionists" place on themselves, but everything to do with your attitude which has been rather insulting. I'm not perfect - I do have a mote in my eye, but.......
Frankly, if "evolutionists" are such awful people, why bother hanging around here?

Ok.......The TOPIC
There is a certain individual who frequents these boards who uses what I'm pretty sure is a REGISTERED TRADEMARK on his avatar.
( Taz? )
Now, unless this individual is in possession of a license to use this trademark he is in direct violation of the LAW. (I think the host may be as well.)
Now that is TWO examples of this type of behavior from this individual in one week.
Does this not indicate that this individual feels,
ABOVE the LAW,
THEREFORE,
superior ?
No?

I would be happy to, but before I do, it might be wise for me to find out exactly what "meaningful" means to you.
See, I'd suspect that plenty of folks here find what I have to say quite meaningful.
I don't deny that many folks here will not LIKE what I have to say. That would seem to include yourself.
The point I'm making, ( quite clearly I thought,) is that:
For effective communication to occur there must be an interest in communicating.
If all you got is a bunch of folks shoutin at each other you ain't gonna get much done.
Now some may contend that I'm the one doin all the shoutin and to them I'd say:
Please go back and read it all again,
dispassionately.
PLEASE!
Seems I've only got 12 hours!

No.
A violation of 15 USC can only occur if the copyrighted symbol, picture, word or phrase is used for commercial gain without the copyright owner’s permission.
In the case of Taz and Percy there is no commercial gain experienced by posting on this forum. There is no violation of the Uniform Commercial Code.
It seems your knowledge of the law is a bit weak in this area. What a surprise.

Hi Hill Billy,
Just trying to help clear things up for you.
A wise-guy attitude is no substitute for effective communication. If you're going to insist on burying any serious communication beneath layers of sarcasm and wisecracks then don't be surprised if moderators can't see any serious content in your posts.
Moderating the board is something people volunteer to do in their spare time. It is unpaid and there is no training. Make it easy for moderators to tell you're following the Forum Guidelines or you'll be gone.

Hi Hill Billy,
Just trying to help clear things up for you.
Thank you. As our host, what you have to say is very important to me.
A wise-guy attitude is no substitute for effective communication. If you're going to insist on burying any serious communication beneath layers of sarcasm and wisecracks then don't be surprised if moderators can't see any serious content in your posts.

Point taken.
I will try and wrap it up all tidy like.
I believe the following statement is true:
As human beings, we incorporate our emotions in the process of drawing conclusions.
Therefore it is difficult, if not impossible, to determine if our conclusions are true.
In fact, to have any hope of making this determination one must first assume that their conclusions may be false. Only then can those conclusions be compared with alternatives.
Is this not the basis of science? In fact, is this not science itself?
Is not scientific thinking in fact, the assumption that all conclusions may be false?
After six months of reading here, what stands out the most to me is that most everyone here is absolutely convinced of the truth of their conclusions. Very few here seem even the slightest bit interested in hearing what anyone else has to say.( you know, alternatives ) That leaves you with a science themed discussion board with very few scientific thinkers.
Would you like some more?
