I don't know how or when plate tectonics is or was taught in grammar or high schools, but I never heard the term until I was in an Earth Science class in 1971 when I returned to college after my first army tour. It certainly explained many questions about the dynamics of the earth's crust.

I recently found out that the himilaya's have been redated to only 2-3 million years old instead of tens of millions as previously beleived.
Where did you find this out? This is a science forum evidence is needed.

Re: flood == volcanic destruction? <---Big Super-Mega!!!
Oh I love science, and science, archeology, history, current events, etc. all prove Scripture. Besides the Bible is not a religious book, I am not religious, so how could it be a "religious belief"?
Because it is religious mythology.

Re: Way off-topic, and probably very wrong
Now just think what will happen to little hard-shelled sea critters if they get caught up in that mess...
They would become part of the "mess" and would not form as fossils but simply melt into the magma.

Re: How long under water is the issue here.
Not all erupted out of a conical volcano, but were spread across the face of the earth in a “volcanic” fashion. So where do geologists conclude rocks originate from if not via a volcanic mechanism?
The "volcanic" rocks are those which are extrusive. Most Igneous rocks are intrusive, cooled below ground and over the course of time, with the above ground having been eroded away, were exposed to the surface.
Igneous and volcanic are not synonyms

Re: Creation "science" again
The second reason is because the physical evidence corroborates.
Oh, really. Then provide some. I'd like to see some evidence of the mythical flood.

Re: Still no creationist explanation of fossilized marine life on mountaintops.
Sea phenomena on mountain TOPS is a logical expectation of a Great Flood.
So explain why there are no chordate fossils in the area explained? If the results were from your mythological global flood there should be fossils of all types of sea creatures not just arthropods, mollusks & worms.
