I admit that every single "fact" in Clive's PNT is wrong; however, in his mind, and in the minds of other people who don't understand thermodynamics, evolution, or abiogenesis, it is a coherent single whole. I understand that the problem is that addressing each of these points individually will result in multiple conversations in different topics, some of which are related only tenuously; however, I think that it is only going to be in a discussion that these things can be brought out.
I recommend promoting to "Is It Science?", at least if Clive responds to the Admin (to indicate his real interest in discussion). Let me know if you are willing to reconsider -- in that case, I'll get started on a reply -- as you guessed, it may be lengthy. Otherwise, I'll wait to see how Clive pares it down. I, too, am also interested in discussing this issue. Please promote the damn thread.

Well, it has been a couple of days now, and Clivestaplesfan doesn't seem to be interested in discussing the topic. As interesting as some of the points are, I think that if Clive is just a hit-n-run, then the topic should just be allowed to die.
What is the time limit? After a week of no response, the topic gets closed? Or was that just a idiosyncrasy of one of the former mods?

I was the one that would review all proposals and close the ones that had no activity in a week, and I'm still doing it that way. The only unpromoted proposals that get closed earlier are those where the author requests it.

Since the original PNT is less than promising, perhaps it would be better if one of the people who wants to discuss the matter wrote a more substantial PNT ?

Fine, I will write a more substantial PNT on this subject... when I have the time.

I was going to take your suggestion and write a PNT, but I can say what I wanted to say in response to Ichthus' Biogenenesis PNT, so I'll wait a bit to see whether this PNT gets promoted. If it doesn't, then I'll write my PNT to take into account the points being made both by Ichthus and Clivestaplesfan.

Exactly the same warped conflation of abiogenesis in terms of modern biology and spontaneous generation in terms of Pasteur's 'law of biogenesis' was made previously in the Evolution has been Disproven thread. I know this is a relatively old thread but the idea was given a pretty thorough thrashing from various members.

Admin wrote a very constructive reply to Cjd005's PNT. Rather than simply state that suitable threads already exist and then walk off, Admin listed some possible threads that Cjd005 could jump into.
I realize that this sort of thing takes time and effort, but seeing that PNTs need the consent of the moderators to be promoted, it would be helpful if the moderators would post constructive suggestions that would lead to the PNT to be promoted, or, like here, to suggest other threads so that the proposer can quickly begin to discuss her idea. I'm just wondering because the topic he proposes sounds very much like a rehash of Genetics and Human Brain Evolution. Also he does say he is called Mark and is a habituee of Christian Forums.
Not saying it isn't a topic worth revisiting it just seems strange he is coming on as if he is completely fresh to the debate on this site, if it is Mark Kennedy again that is. TTFN, WK

Much time has passed, impossible to say, their IPs don't match, though.

If txhvs, whoever he is, was interested I'd be keen to have a 'great debate' on the topic. The previous human brain evolution thread tended towards the dogpile, and Eggasai took umbrage when SFS hit the thread. It would be nice to have a chance to go over the literature of the genetic differences between humans and chimps in a bit more detail than a normal thread allows.

I put it in the regular forums, we'll see how it goes.

Why would the existance of a thread on another forum negate the purpose of a thread on this forum?

Because I wanted to give "Phathead" a bit of a hard time? And also send some action to http://www.worldwideword.net/dreamcatcher/index.php?
OK, I'll promote the topic. Adminnemooseus
