I just discovered a link in a New Scientist article to a very interesting creation/evolution website. The article can be found at Evolution myths: The theory is wrong because the Bible is 'inerrant'
The link is at the very end of the article. Search for the phrase "make up your own mind" and click on it. Great site! --Percy

Great press. Things might get busy here. Then again I don't think many creationists read New Scientist, so all we will get are those rational thinking people. We need some more irrational people around here.

Tip of the hat to kbertsche:
You might like to take a look at the books and papers by Daniel Wonderly, a geologist and evangelical Christian. His "God's Time-Records in Ancient Sediments: Evidences of Long Time Spans in Earth's History" details numerous non-radiometric evidences for an old earth. His "Neglect of Geologic Data: Sedimentary Strata Compared with Young-Earth Creationist Writings" is a more pointed critique of YEC claims, and can be found posted on the internet. You can find links to it here: http://www.asa3.org/asa/education/ORIGINS/wonderly.htm A direct link to the index page of his books and papers: Daniel E. Wonderly Memorial Library | IBRI | Interdisciplinary Biblical Research Institute The "Complete Contents of the Daniel E. Wonderly Memorial Library Sorted by Title": http://www.wonderlylib.ibri.org/.../Contents-wonderlylib.htm The above includes his two books;

Chris Mooney and Sheril Kirshenbaum - Unscientific America: How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens Our Future
This book has been controversial in the science blogosphere etc. PZ Myers/Pharyngula has been notably harsh towards it. The PZ Myers comments, oldest to newest:
Unscientific America: How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens Our Future Unscientific America and those awful atheists Unscientific America, the gift that keeps on giving Unscientific America: still useless Unscientific America: it's personal! Joshua Rosenau is much more favorable:

I might suggest that some juicy quotes be brought from there. You've given the links now how about the information part?

You've given the links now how about the information part? From Adminnemooseus's message 1:
As I interpret it's purpose, "L&I" is a place to put various essentially bare links. It is NOT a forum for debating. I put the "essentially bare links" out as being references to reading about something elsewhere. If someone wishes to make a debate topic of it, they should start a new Book Nook topic, where they can add the information to the links. I'm not interested in doing such. Moose

I had a message in progress, but lost it to a Firefox lock up in this #@*&% computer I'm using. I shall sort of try again.
PK Myers observations etc. on when old Earth science happens in a young Earth creationism university. Also further reading at several linked sites. A Glen Davidson comment that I liked included:

I do not know if this website has been mentioned or showcased on EvC before, but if not I wanted to bring it to your attention. Creation Science
I was very shocked and surprised when I found this website. I followed a link about "chickenosaurus" under the impression that this would be more creotortionist material. I was floored when I read that article and found it to be a critique of an article by Eric Hovind on CMI. In fact, a very well done and well researched criticism at that! I discovered that Answers in Creation is an OEC website that fully endorses and supports all findings in science. The creator of the site, Greg Neyman, sent me this email in response to a YouTube review I made of his page:
Greg Neyman writes: Thanks for reviewing the Answers In Creation website. I believe that if you cannot merge scientific discoveries with the Bible, then there is no point in following the Bible. Unfortunately, many of my Christian brothers believe that science is opposed to their interpretation of the Bible, and they attempt to discredit science, although all they end up accomplishing is discrediting themselves, and in the process, they bring ridicule upon the Christian faith as a whole. If the church is to continue to grow in today’s world, we must abandon the foolish teachings of young earth creationism and fully embrace science. Hopefully, this will eventually happen. This page is a breath of fresh air, imho. I (obviously!) do not agree with all of their viewpoints. I do, however greatly respect their integrity and willingness to say "We do not have an answer for this yet, but will continue searching" rather than the standard of making something up. My thought on this page is that it might be a good place to start for creationists that might really want to seek out answers. I have referred people to TalkOrigins, but wonder if this might be a better starting point as the authors are themselves Christians and may be viewed as less antagonistic toward the YEC perspective. Anyway, it is a really good source so far, and fairly well written and researched. I also like that it specifically hits those 'newsflashes' from AiG, CRI, etc., some of which wouldn't be worth TO's time to address (recycled PRATTS and the like). ABE: I did search and found a thread about this site, but since it is from 2005 maybe worth mentioning AiC again! Edited by Lithodid-Man, : Added link and the ABE above Edited by Adminnemooseus, : Added link to the ABE. Doctor Bashir: "Of all the stories you told me, which were true and which weren't?" Elim Garak: "My dear Doctor, they're all true" Doctor Bashir: "Even the lies?" Elim Garak: "Especially the lies" |

Discovered via Pharyngula.
PZ Myers says:
The Bible is suffused with liberal bias. A lot of the Old Testament isn't bad, but the New Testament, when Jesus makes the scene, suddenly takes a turn into commie-land, with it's talk of helping the poor and camels and needles and so forth. Jesus was obviously misquoted all over the place. To see the whole grand plan, go to http://conservapedia.com/Conservative_Bible_Project THIS SHOULD NOT BE DEBATED IN THIS TOPIC. IF YOU WANT A DEBATE TOPIC, PLEASE ADD SOME MORE CONTENT AND TAKE IT TO THE PROPOSED NEW TOPICS FORUM. It will be interesting to see if it stays up, or whether it is deemed to be a liberal hack parody of their "position/s"
