U can call me Cookie
Once heard a friend singing a funny song (at least he tought it was), and this was the last line.
The sone is 'Fire Water Burn' by the Bloodhound Gang
quote:
Hello my name is Jimmy Pop and I'm a dumb white guy,
I'm not old or new but middle school fifth grade like junior high,
I don't know mofo if y'all peeps be buggin' give props to my ho cause she all fly,
But I can take the heat cause I'm the other white meat known as 'Kid Funky Fried',
Yeah I'm hung like planet Pluto hard to see with the naked eye,
But if I crashed into Uranus I would stick it where the sun don't shine,
Cause I'm kind of like Han Solo always stroking my own wookie,
I'm the root of all that's evil yeah but you can call me cookie

I was raised Catholic.
I used to work in a lab and wore a lab coat. In the movie Half Baked, when Thurgood is mopping up in the medical research lab and the one guys says something like "Excuse me Janitor". Then Thurgood replied, "Yes Scientist." I thought it was really funny. Also, I have a Bachelors of Science degree and was working in a lab employing the scientific method, I figured I could call myself a scientist.
WRT evolution, as a Theistic Evolutionist, I wanted a name that reflected that belief, but was also accurate in who I was.
Also, I'm a Gemini and do feel like I have two parts to me. One side is more of a believer and the other side is more of a skeptic, so I wanted the name to reflect them, which usually oppose each other.
I think the EvC debate sometimes boils down to science versus religion. I support both sides.
One thing to note is that I chose Catholic Scientist and not something like Scientific Catholic. I don't think I could reject something that is scientifically sound for a religious belief. I'm a scientist in my beliefs, but a Catholic one, not a Catholic in my beliefs, but a scientific one. I haven't really rejected too much dogma, as I can usually accept both the religious and scientific explanations, because they normally don't seem mutually exclusive to me, and I don't really mind hand waving that much.

BUMP
Saw this old one while looking through back pages.
We've seen a lot of new members. I like reading about how people came up with their name.
Anyone want to share?

Re: where to get Xong[tm]
Hey, Thanks!
I don't have time to look into it now but it looks like a pretty rad game.
I hope you don't mind busting out of your ambiguity, Nate!

When I joined, I was working in the lab wearing the lab coat and safety glasses... I definately looked the part for that hilarious scene:
"Ecxuse me, janitor?"
"Yes, scientist."
Thurgood was such a great character.
...
Ha! found something on youtube:
Its not the part I'm referring to, but he does call him scientist at 1:44. What a great clip though.

Re: Just an alias
The name Meldinoor comes from a fantasy background me and my friends were making for a Role-Playing game a while back. Never got too far on that project,
Heh, you can tell us about that HERE.
