Most academic historians refuse on principle to "debate" the Holocaust with Holocaust-deniers, and most scientists similarly refuse to debate evolution with evolution-deniers.
So what is achieved here? Neither side is ever going to change their opinion. The only thing I see is that one side keeps making the other side look extremely stupid, but that can scarcely be counted as an achievement.

But as I've said, the debate does not take place for the simple reason that the Very qualified evolutionists do not want to debate. They want to silence the discussion, make it seem as there is no debate.
My point is that there is, in fact, no informed debate about evolution. It's just as much a fact as is the Holocaust. Debating it offers credibility to the misguided.
the Qualified creationists
Oxymoron. Maybe no oxy.

there are no true scientists who know what they are talking about on the creationist side of the debate.
What's the difference between a "true scientist", and a "creationist"? Could it be that one has no agenda and seeks the truth?
Your choice of language betrays your argument.

if, as many here claimed, creationism is easy as shizzle to knock to the ground and laugh, why don't they do it in the open ? Wouldn't this be everyone's dream to see a debate, organised by a neutral third party, where Dawkins has the chance to give the creation movement the knockout blows ?
Because "debating" a really very stupid idea indeed gives that idea a veneer of credibility which it simply doesn't deserve. The reality is that there is no debate to be had, because all the evidence points one way.
We might as well debate whether or not Rome is in Italy.

No idea. I was bored when I joined the forum. I think it's a waste of everyone's time, though.

Re: Lies
But the web is full of creationist lies
Yes. This is the precise point. It's been turned into a political argument, and it's ultimately quite boring.
Part of me thinks "who cares what those f*ckwits say they believe?". A large part.

But it (atheism) does influence how you live your life.
This is a common misconception among religious people. Atheism is a belief there's no god, and nothing more than that. It isn't, in itself, any sort of moral compass.
We atheists don't need an invisible policeman in the sky, nor an old (and morally questionable) book, in order to know how to behave ourselves properly.
On the whole, atheists are more intelligent and better-educated than are religious believers. Perhaps religion plays a useful role in regulating some members of society. But, in general, I see religion as a force for evil in human societies.
