My tastes are...odd. Metal, Death Metal, Satanic Metal (lol), Melodic Death Metal, Gothic Rock, Alternative Rock, and Sountracks mostly.
Iron Maiden.
In Flames.
Dark Tranquility.
Otep - especially "Special Pets."
A bit of Dimmu Borgir and Kovenant (mostly just a few songs from each - "Puritania" by Dimmu Borgir is one of my favorites, except for the live version, which sucks a lot).
All manner of epic-sounding (or dark) soundtracks and original scores. Everything from the Star Wars soundtrack to the Blood theme from Dexter.
Sometimes I enjoy Linkin Park, but not so often.
I used to like Evanescence, as I enjoy the mix of classical soprano singing with harder rock music. Epica is similar. Both got old, though - particularly the excessively Christian themes of Evanescence (unsurprising, as they were a Christian band that "crossed over" into mainstream).
Occasionally Lacuna Coil.
Ever heard of the Minibosses? They do metal covers of old Nintendo themes. Considering that the Super Mario theme and various themes from Mega Man 2 get stuck in my head on a regular basis, these guys are awesome.
Honestly though I'll listen to damned near anything other than Country. Girlfriend has a major Lady Gaga fetish, and I find her music stuck in my head all the damned time, and to my great shame I can't actually say that I hate it. It's not in my playlist, but I don't make her turn it down.
I have trouble picking out speech with background noise, which means I have difficulty picking out words in a song. I can pick out individual instruments and so on, but the words elude me. I tend to listen to music in most (but not quite all) cases more for the actual sound than for anything in the words, which I frequently can't understand anyway (this is often the case with Dimmu Borgir).
EDIT
Oh, and Dethklok is awesome. I don't care if they're a fake band, Dethalbum I and II rock.

Brotha Lynch Hung
I actually met that jackass. He brought in his laptop to be fixed at a shop I worked at, complete with retinue of groupies. Fucker never answered his cell phone or checked his messages, and refused to pay in anything other than cash, which meant we couldn't actually send the laptop out. He became very angry, which amused me greatly.

Re: You want a list?
It's kind of like wine: the best music is the music you like to listen to.
Except Country. Country is horrible, a blight upon the Earth, an auditory pestilence.

Re: You want a list?
Country bars are fun and the women in tight jeans are always a nice sight.
I find it difficult to stare at women in tight jeans while my ears are bleeding.
Besides - I typically can't stand the people who listen to country music for more than short periods anyway. The word "y'all," which isn;t even really a word so much as an example of the rape of the English language perpetrated in the South, makes me cringe. I roll my eyes at both cowboy hats and boots. Giant belt buckles instantly cap my estimation of a person's intelligence at an IQ of about 80, just this side of mentally handicapped.
Clearly, I'm also not a fan of Westerns.
EDIT
The chicks you find listening to goth/metal music are both far more interesting and far more attractive. Give me dark (or unnaturally colored) hair, pale skin, tattoos and piercings, please!

Re: You want a list?
If Toby Keith was here he'd tell you to shut your queer mouth, do a shot, drink a beer and stop with the judgmental liberal talk.
If Toby Keith were here there's an even chance I would spit out a long and venomous tirade regarding his pathetically overzealous patriotism. The "America, Fuck Yeah" brigade of kicking ass and taking names, while emotionally energizing, has gotten this country into more trouble than perhaps anything else.
I guess I just don't really care where I drink that much - dive bars, country bars, I don't care. People suck everywhere.
People sucking is generally why I don't like bars
You'd die over the chic I'm dating now. She used to manage bands (for big labels) and is a sick drummer herself. Sick! Straight, jet black hair, tats, piercings...oh yeah! Her Valetine's gift to me was a tat (finishing a piece on my arm). My gift to her was Dropkick Murphy tickets, lol.
But man, fuck, ain't nothing like those southern bells in daisy dukes though.
I like a broader spectrum I guess.
I have a pretty broad spectrum myself - though I certainly prefer dark or wild-colored hair, my "type" is really just any woman with a good brain, proportionate features, and a kinky streak a mile and a half wide If she happens to be blonde, blue-eyed, and likes daisy dukes, I'm all for it...
...as long as she doesn't try to play Toby Keith.
