Omnibus Addendum
Since we're making our closing arguments let me condense.
@Straggler:
On one hand you say that NJ's homophobic vitriol was so obvious and blatant that only an imbecile could fail to see it.
I never said it was so obvious and blatant that it couldn't be explained away, in isolation, by someone absolutely committed to discarding the rules of grammar and logic in an effort to avoid perceiving what is directly in front of his nose.
But you can explain away anything like that. Even the evidence for evolution.
@Hyro:
No doubt Crash will use this measure of dishonesty to prove that I am capable of being diabolically clever.
Gosh, now that you're expecting it, kinda takes the wind out of my sails, doesn't it?
Still, I can't really walk back the stuff I said about you. You were offensive, people told you you were offensive, and instead of making amends and changing your behavior - for the sake of appearances, a self-serving advantage in pretending to be the bigger guy, even because it would have been the Christian thing to do - you doubled-down and chased Berberry into GenDiscMod11 to harass him.
Dude, not cool. But, you know, I told Holmes this once - you have every opportunity not to do that in the future. Outside of what I've already said in this thread I don't intend to chase you around the forum to harangue you with your past. You'll get no problem from me, I promise.
I am defending the sincerity of my former self. What you saw as NJ was the truth, not some clever Jedi mind trick. Crash inadvertantly gave me wayyyy more credit than I was worth.
Cold readers do it by instinct too, you know. Frequently aggresive bigotry is not a conscious choice. All too often it's something we fall into, and defend, without thinking.
Anyway. Like I said, your past is of no more concern to me, I promise. I'm prepared to consider the posts under NemJug to be those of another person, since it's clear you've put that person behind you.
Suffice it to say that there have been some personal reasons that lead to the doubting. I felt abandoned a lot of the time, and the more I delved in to the bible, the more apparent the folly of it was. When you pray with sincerity, over and over and over and over again, yet you're told, "ask, and you shall recieve," "knock and the door will open to you," and you didn't recieve, and the door didn't open, well, it's a terrible feeling.
The part that really fucks with my head is that before I joined the forum I had what seems to be a genuine experience with God. To this day I can't say if it was real or if I had wanted it to be real.
Really all I have done is gone back to my former-former self. I started my journey as an agnostic, and now I've come full circle. I await instructions from the Mothership, which may not be there at all.
Sounds a lot like my own journey. Yup, you may be the next generation of Crashfrog. Ruminate on that, the next time you want to experience pure terror.

Re: The Bombshell of Revelation
Are you even from Miami you whore?!
LOL! Yes, that's the truth.
I always figured you were an old member, I just didn't care.
I think I'm considered an old member, but I pale in comparison to some of our resident EvC members. I'm considered New School compared to them.
I have read a lot of your old stuff, would have loved to debate your NJ alter-ego. But Hyro is fun too.
NJ could really incur the wrath of the forum. It has taken some getting used not being dogpiled anymore. Imagine Will Smith against the pissed off zombies in I Am Legend. That's kind of what it feels like for the fundy's on the forum.
I hope you don't get banned for this
Yeah, that would kind of suck. I don't know, we'll see. I didn't have to reveal myself, I just felt like maybe I should. My main concern is Buzsaw, ironically enough. I feel like a wayward teenager letting down his dad. It's that kind of terrible feeling.

In light of Hyro/NJ's latest admissions and glaring intents, do you or anyone else now concede that Crashfrog might have plausible/probable POVs?
Just curious.
Or you could instead consider the following:
Hyro.. I mean NJ, No I mean Hyro to Huntard writes:
Well, I was homophobic and a bit of a doucher. I didn't like the idea of homosexuality because my God didn't like it. But I didn't hide that fact. And I believed that they were in sin and couldn't see the light. Turns out that it was me who couldn't see the light.
But I meant then, as much as I do now, that I never hated them. That is the honest truth. And back then it was very much about my fascination for absolutes vs relativism. You, Straggler, CS, Modulous, Cavediver, etc, having accurately understood what I said back then.
Hyro.. I mean NJ, No I mean Hyro to Huntard writes:
It's not that I defend my former self or my former beliefs. I am defending the sincerity of my former self. What you saw as NJ was the truth, not some clever Jedi mind trick. Crash inadvertantly gave me wayyyy more credit than I was worth.
That is pretty much how I saw it too. Crash is determined to see some sort of conspiracy and is viewing every action of NJ's as that of a master manipulator.
I mean for Christ's sake a misplaced pronoun was cited as an indefensible attack!! All perspective on this has been lost.

Re: Omnibus Addendum
Still, I can't really walk back the stuff I said about you.
I don't expect you to. It was not exactly a mystery that you and I butted heads. Even still, we had our moments of burying the hatchet... At least until I derailed a thread about the morality of homosexuality, and then process repeated!
I knew that people were offended, but I tried to express my opinions without being overtly offensive. I felt like unless I completely emasculated my position, there was nothing that I could say which would not be seen as offensive.
Outside of what I've already said in this thread I don't intend to chase you around the forum to harangue you with your past. You'll get no problem from me, I promise.
Cool, I appreciate you giving me the opportunity for a fresh start.
Cold readers do it by instinct too, you know. Frequently aggresive bigotry is not a conscious choice.
Well, then perhaps Percy was right. Maybe I wasn't trying to consciously "gay-bait" but was gay-baiting.
Anyway. Like I said, your past is of no more concern to me, I promise. I'm prepared to consider the posts under NemJug to be those of another person, since it's clear you've put that person behind you.
Thank you. I guess this means something good for you too. This means that I admit that I was wrong and you were right. You always defended homosexuality, and now I do too. So in that way I give you whatever credit you deserve in swaying my perception. I imagine everyone's testimony over the years, along with personal experience, has played a large role in my transformation.
Sounds a lot like my own journey.
It's funny you say that, because I recall a thread you made about how you used to be a Christian. I remember wondering if my journey was anything like your own. Now I know
I don't know if you plan on staying at EvC for the long haul or if you stopped by for a moment, but I'm glad we were able to set aside our differences, regardless.

Let's just let it go and move forward. A lot of people saw it the way Crash does, and a lot of people saw it the way you do.
Let's just live in peace until we can find something else to argue about. I'm sure it won't take long! After all, this is EvC, the home of controversy.

Let's start a thread where we discuss the morality of agnostic rabbits and whether or not they have the right to own guns?

An End To It
Interesting people, an effective and easy-to-use BB software, a subject focus that I'm interested in, and a set of clear and effective forum guidelines that promote highly informative discussion.
Good. I'm glad we agree.
"Pissing"? Sorry, Paul, you're completely full of shit.
Nothing new there. Personality flaw.
But I and others know personal animosity and vitriol (pissing) when we see it and your initial messages in this thread are that in spades whether you personally care to admit it or not.
You're so full of your own bile you cannot see it.
Since I've not done that - since literally no part of your characterization of this thread is accurate - what do you expect to get, here? I can't justify something I didn't actually do - to wit, I didn't "storm in", since I was already here, and I've not pissed on anybody.
That's actually what you're doing, Paul.
Nothing but denial of the obvious followed by projection, Fro ... er ... Crash.
I take it you do not know the reason you stormed in here after a three year absence pissing on everything and everybody. You cannot admit you have done so since you cannot even see that you have done so. You deflect the question of why with denial and projection.
Others will draw their own conclusions from this. I will conclude that you have been a petulant little child on a pent-up tantrum three years in the making.
So grow up and get over it, Frog. Grow a pair. You're not 16 any more.
Finis.

Awwwww, what a sweetheart
I am sure that I can put an end to that particular honeymoon.
I could too. I still have some atavisms that rattle a few people from time to time. I have no illusions that the peace will remain. While I'm not as barbed as my former self, I have full faith that I can still stir the board in to a seething frenzy over something
I think Rhavin's Mindless Middle accusation of me is actually him witnessing my old self warring with my new self. Such internal strife within me! I think I tend to take the middle ground more often now because I generally have the distinct ability to see both sides of an issue.

There's one guy who I think will hate me to the bitter end, either as Hyro or Nem. For him it would be like playing the role of Hitler. He'd be too conflicted.

I never found NJ to be uninteresting and so far Hyro has held his own.

Now that I've thoroughly derailed the thread, let's get back on topic amicably.
My contention is not that EvC collapsed, but in lieu of the Great Purge it has certainly changed. I think the identity of the forum was scarred, not irrepairably, but scarred nonetheless.
EvC still exists, but I do miss the old crew, while embracing the new crew.
We need to be honest with ourselves in noting that the only reason this site exists is because of controversy. If we have no one to debate with, we have no site worth coming to.
Now that I've defected to the Dark Side, that's one less person to bitch about and argue with.
But what are your thoughts on site improvement?
