I am a plumber.
There is two sides to that coin. Plenty of mechanics out there who find problems when there is none, and charge you for it. Those are the dishonest ones, like some people here.
I want the honest plumber, who knows what he is doing, and only finds problems when one actually exists. Then fixes it for the right price.
It isn't about making anybody else happy. It's about self-examination, self-improvement. You're coming across as somebody who thinks he doesn't need any improvement in his attitudes.
I don't want you to think that. I can only be as good as my intellect allows me to be. If there is anything in life that I have learned, is that there is always room to be wrong about stuff. As I read through this thread, I am examining myself, and I find nothing wrong, I'm doing the best I can with what I've got. If you could specifically point out something wrong, instead of just making empty blanket assertions, then I would be grateful.
About the only thing that I learned, which I already knew is that people have different ways of expressing themselves, and while a comment I make may be fine here where I live, it may be taken wrong by someone else reading this forum. But that happens with just about everything. People can say whatever they want, what matters is what is on the inside. I am rough around the edges sometimes, and I think I've improved dramatically in that area. but just because someone is "edgy" does not make him/her a racists.

The Great Puppy Conspiracy
I see. From your link:
I did not know this. I wanted to check on it because my kids found 2 puppies and wanted to let neighbors know with a small (1/5 page) flyer so someone will claim them. A lady told them this was illegal and now my kids are freaked out.
Someone should call the FBI and have them arrest the kids. And, if possible, the puppies, I bet they were in on it somehow. Both small children and puppydogs have big cute eyes ... you can't trust people like that.

There may be two sides to the coin but you only answered the one I didn't ask. Here it is again: Would you rather hire a plumber who looks for a problem or one who doesn't?

I've already said in this thread that I'm a bigot. I try to be less bigoted. I couldn't do that if I thought I was perfect.

You are driving, and come to a 4 way stop sign. There is a fire truck to your right, an ambulance in front of you, and a mail truck to your left. Who has the right of way?

why did you mine quote me? I never implied that. Use the whole quote next time please.

You question is based on a false premise --- I can't drive.
(Go on then, tell me which and why. Is it the mail truck because it's federal?)

There you go again, Mr. Perfect.
If your answer was so good, you could have just repeated it. That would make me look like a fool instead of you.
You know, I've had misunderstandings with people too, sometimes right on this forum. You know how I handle them? If somebody tells me, "You said X, Y and Z and that offends me," I don't tell them that they're wrong and that they have no right to be offended. I don't tell them I'm not a bigot. I try to figure out why I might seem to be a bigot. I tell them that I didn't mean to offend anybody and I try to figure out exactly what wording it was that caused offense. Then I rephrase what I said in another way to try to get my meaning across without causing misunderstanding or offense.
That procedure should fall under "all I really need to know I learned in kindergarten". It's pretty embarassing that a grown man doesn't understand it.

That ain't nothing. For about a month, my wife and I couldn't understand why our credit card companies never received our payments. I had to do some verbal gymnastics to get them to take out the late charges. And then one day one of our neighbors came and gave us a whole box of mail. Apparently, her 2 little girls thought it was funny to hide our mail.
I swear...

That was part of the purpose of this thread.
I tell them that I didn't mean to offend anybody and I try to figure out exactly what wording it was that caused offense.
did that.
Then I rephrase what I said in another way to try to get my meaning across without causing misunderstanding or offense.
been there done that too.
so what is left after I explore all the options that I can find, trying to find fault within myself? If I can't find any, then I must explore the possibility that it is not me, and it is the other person. This thread is a perfect example. Some people understood me perfectly, and do not think I am a bigot/racist, while others didn't. After trying to re-explain myself, they still don't get it, what do you do? I mean even Jesus walked away sometimes.
Just so you know, I have a handicap kid. It took me months to explain to him how many ounces are in a cup. So I am very familiar with explaining myself in different ways, and I have the patience to do it.
It's what we do for handicap people

Bullshit. Your standard response is, "I already answered that." Nobody should ever have to ask you where your answer is.

Rinse and repeat. The process is never finished. Your mistake is in thinking that ANYTHING you do is ever perfect.

As of late, with certain people only. DBlevins and I in the UFO thread just had a conversation where I reexplained myself for him, and he got it.

I would if certain people were sincere, and actually just weren't getting it, but that is not the case sometimes.

It isn't your business to decide whether somebody else is sincere. You were blaming everybody but yourself at the beginning of the thread and you don't seem to have learned much.
