The recent versions allow creation of new codes that implement html is a restricted way. Mostly I just used the phpBB functions implemented in the fairly recent versions.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Yes.
thank you. i think i have a handle on how to do quotes now to move on to the bold and italics portion of the codes. i prefer buttons myself, a lot more convenient and less time consuming.

just about every other forum i have used. this is the first one i have been on where you have had to manually type in a code to get quotes, bold, italics. try http://www.archiesarena.com

That's because this board runs on different software than those other boards. The software this board runs on is written entirely by Percy/Admin. Like he said, there will be buttons at a certain point in the future, but no time is set.

no worries. it is awkward system but i am learning and getting used to the format.
oh by the way, for the most part i am enjoying some of the discussions i am having. it would be nice if some of the posters would tone done their demeanor and refrain from resorting to the negative when they respond to me.

Maybe you'd like to lead the way, then? You're unnecessarily abrasive, make sweeping accusations of dishonesty against literally all your opponents, and in general evince an attitude of not caring about anything that anybody else knows or has to teach you.
I think you'd find that the discussions you were a part of would improve in tone if you made an effort to improve yours. (And learn to spell and capitalize! Honestly. You'll hardly tear down the scientific edifice writing like a third-grader.)
