You forgot to include.
(4) Since no one has actualy been to where ever they discovered whatever they discovered. Than it doesn't count as emperical evidence and should just be hand waved away.

Fleet Enema
We could be in big trouble here!
My sources tell me they have discovered the combined battle fleet of the G'Gugvunt and the Vl'hurgs heading this way.
Time to get the small dogs ready!

Lol dint see it the first time, though even proof that life can live in arsenic is not that bad, further proof that life shoudl be found somwhere out there.
and it is about life found on earth, damm i was really hopping for a microbe from space.

I should think that the creationist response would break down three ways:
(1) This is an evil atheist lie.
(2) As no creationist has ever taken a position on this subject, this doesn't prove us wrong.
(3) This proves that creationists are right.

Where does this arsenic-for-phosphorous organism fit into the tree of life? Does any one know even the name?

And now a different creationist response on why this shows creationists are right:
Alien Life?
They can't even get their act together on why this refutes evolution

Omg i did not read everything tough from what i took a glance off this dude thinks that nasa claims that that microbe is alien ???????
All it did was it found a way to substitute arsenic for phosphor and live whit it granted a big acomplishment since arsenic was considerd to be poison for all life though nothing to sugest that it was alien and noone on the conference claimed that it did.
Again a creo taking things out of context to prove his ludicrus theory.

PZ Myers take on the issue
PZ says It's not an arsenic-based life form:
quote:
It's an extremophile bacterium that can be coaxed into substituting arsenic for phosphorus in some of its basic biochemistry.
Much more at the source cite, including the info that arsenic is found right below phosphorus in the periodic table.

Edited by Minnemooseus, : Add PZ's topic title to the first sentence.

What was important in the news conference
Most important point:
Scientist says that for his whole professional life he has been making a claim that this discovery shows to be wrong, and how absolutely exciting it was.
Second most important point:
Scientist says that his job is to challenge and test each point and try to refute them, and everyone happy he is there.
