Actually, as of December 6th, 2010, the United States became a Fascist State.
Well, so long as it's the sort of fascism that doesn't involve doing any of the things that made fascism a byword for evil, I don't see why anyone should mind. It's kinda like finding out that one's neighbor is a serial killer of the non-violent type ... it's initially disquieting to be living next door to a serial killer, until you realize that a serial killer who never actually kills anyone is not that much of a problem. Except for those silly pedants and literalists who think that words have meanings.

And in the process brokered a deal to kill Social Security.
I must have missed that. Could you be more specific?
With a poison pill like that? If he's not a liberal, then he's incompetent.
Whereas a competent person like you would have done ... what?
I understand how you're irritated with crashfrog's rhetoric, but I'm only about an inch away from it myself. Obama is President. Do you really not understand how impotent that makes him? Have you read the Constitution lately?
So what would you do? The Republicans have a majority in the House, they can filibuster the Senate ... and you have the powers given by the Constitution to the President.
Your call.

Conservatism
As I wrote in the other thread, this is something Burke would have agreed with. These are some of the principles of conservatism. However, I do recognize the issue in the US with the word conservative. When the representatives are Bush Jr. and Sr., who are not themselves true conservatives, it brings about confusion.
No, talking about Burke brings about confusion. You might as well describe as "liberal" anyone who supports the repeal of the Corn Laws.

Communism
Communism" is an economic system. The Soviet Union was a democracy. It had three branches to its system of government just like the US.
And people to shoot you if you voted the wrong way.
However, it had a vastly different way of implementing democracy than we do.
Well, quite.

For all your yammering about "Have you read the Constitution lately?" it seems you have overlooked something:
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.
Yeah, he can recommend things to Congress. So can I, all I need to do is stand on the Hill with a placard.
It's not really power, is it?
Perhaps I overstate the case, but I don't see how the President can get the legislature to do things they don't want to do without offering them something they want. The wants of the Republican Party are few and simple, and since they don't need Obama's help to pick up strangers in public restrooms, that really only leaves tax cuts for people who don't need them.
In return, they'll let the Democrats do something that might actually be useful.
As Winston Churchill sagely remarked, democracy is the worst possible political system except for all the others.

Not to mention the fact that the President has the power of a veto.
Sure, he can stop them from doing what they want. Or he can stop stopping them. Which means that when he wants something, his bargaining point is that he might let them do what they want, in exchange for them doing something that he wants. Which is what appears to have happened.
Indeed. What makes you think the President has nothing to offer? That Congress doesn't want anything from him?
I specifically pointed out what they want: tax cuts for the rich and anonymous gay sex.
I'm not sure what else they want. Maybe Obama could exterminate an endangered species for them?

He's placed the country in more recession than any other president in history -- an unprecedented and obscene amount.
On the upside, you've got to give him credit for inventing the time machine.
As if Bush wasn't bad enough, he's spent 3 times as much, in the middle of one of the worst recessions in American history.
Actually, 18% more. What he's tripled is the per-year increase in the deficit (and doubled the per-year increase in the debt). And if you can't tell the difference I don't think you should be posting about economics.
And in the middle of a bad recession is exactly when you're meant to increase spending, even at the cost of increasing debt. You don't worry about water conservation when your house is on fire.
Whether his health care bill was a good or bad thing is not even up for debate at this point. I'd like to point to the timing of it. That was just about the worst time to go off and splurge like a teenager with a credit card.
No, that's the best time to do it. However, the CBO did estimate that the health care bill would reduce the deficit. Of course, one should not put one's trust in economic projections, but that's the one we've got.

But I note you are willing to try and silence my voice on it.
Typical liberal attitude.
I note that you are willing to equate criticism of what you say with an attempt to deprive you of your freedom of speech.
Typical conservative bullshit.
