However didn't see any trouble despite being out and about yesterday evening. News suggests that the police presence in London kept things quiet here and that it was the rest of the country (Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham etc.) that kicked off last night.
well duh. when the police shoot unarmed subjects, and they (the police) are all over the place, I would think everyone would chill out a bit, for fear of getting shot.
Stay safe man, the closest i ever came to something like this was our 10 day independence ware where the Serbs dint put even a dent in our troops and barely got past the border. Only one guy died a few where wounded the rest where captured. So not even close compared to what is happening in your country.
word. I also haven't experienced anything like that either, I would not leave the house unarmed (well come to think of it I never do anyway). be careful d00d.

There is, as yet, nothing to support this claim. He was armed, and police are entitled to shoot when they believe they are under immediate threat; if he made an action that looked like he was raising the gun then they were perfectly within their rights to open fire.
It seems like every other report is he did then he didn't. I guess it depends on who you talk to. the police say he did (but of course they would), and vise versa. They love shooting unarmed people, especially in the back, and then saying they were armed, they do it all the time there and here.
The Guardian is one of the UK's national newspapers from the respectable end of the journalism spectrum. Notably left wing, liberal. It is they that doggedly pursued the phone hacking allegations until they brought down the News of the World.
ok. thanks, I just don't know what is run by Murdoch over there and what isn't. BBC is the main one for me, because I know its not a tabloid.

I doubt that the 'low income, uneducated thugs' with the guns are the ones retooling them. They'd buy the guns action-ready from whoever it is who makes money from selling illegal weapons.
Note, however, that I've never really had any connection to gang or gun culture, so this is all my ignorant speculation.
well that would make sense. It is just weird to me because getting a gun here is so easy, and many of us here are in the gun culture (its almost un-American not to be). Police here do exactly the same thing.
