My message was a general comment about my perspective of the FFA, which happened to be placed as a response to your general comment.
It was not intended as a comment about anything or anyone, specific to this topic. The "If you're really out to make yourself look stupid" was intended as "If anyone is really out to make themselves stupid". That said, if you personally are out to make yourself look stupid, the FFA is the place. Adminnemooseus

Palin has called for the repeal of "Obamacare". Part of that bill prevents insurance companies from taking away children's health insurance because they get sick. Do you see the latter as her motivation for the former? Might she support the cancellation restriction but felt compelled to oppose Obamacare in its aggregate? She is still a nutjob, but still ... is this really her motivation in this case?

I propose a poll to be conducted to see how many members want to do away with ALL topics political since they seem to be met with such contention by a certain few.... The problem is, all topics are political. Evolution vs Creationism - theory.Evolution vs Creationism in any given state or school - politics.

She is still a nutjob, but still ... is this really her motivation in this case? To be fair, I don't think anyone at any time can ever accuse Palin of being motivated by anything. I seriously doubt if she has the ability to express AT ALL the reasons behind any position she holds. This is the woman who called "Unfair Gotcha Journalism" on the question: "What have you seen while here in Boston?"

To be fair, I don't think anyone at any time can ever accuse Palin of being motivated by anything. I seriously doubt if she has the ability to express AT ALL the reasons behind any position she holds. I'm getting myself on the wrong side of this thing, but that is where this is leading so I do not have much in the way of choice. You and I both disagree, quite pointedly, with Palin's politics. But she is a human being. And, frankly, one does not get to be successful in any endeavour let alone politics without having some intellectual skills even if they are on the "wrong" side of the political spectrum. I imagine she is well aware of her political motivations even if we are not. Just because we see her on the nutjob side of the body politic does not mean that she is any less aware, any less motivated or any less human than are we.
This is the woman who called "Unfair Gotcha Journalism" on the question: "What have you seen while here in Boston?" If this is true then there is a reason for this. I just do not happen to know what it is. And I suspect neither do you. Demonizing ones opponents as sub-human incapable of feelings and reason, especially political opponents, is a longstanding inanity with this species. Edited by AZPaul3, : title

And, frankly, one does not get to be successful in any endeavour let alone politics without having some intellectual skills even if they are on the "wrong" side of the political spectrum. I completely disagree on a number of fronts. First, looks is sufficient to explain success in most any field, particularly one as fickle as politics.Second, I would hardly call her "successful" in politics. She sank McCain's bid. He wouldn't have won anyway on account of he's old, but she made it a BLOW OUT. She won the Governorship of Alaska and quit after serving what? Half her term? Half of THAT half was on the road? Since then she's done nothing in politics. She's famous, the same way that Kim Kardassian and Paris Hilton are famous and for almost the same reason. She's a spectacle.
If this is true then there is a reason for this. I just do not happen to know what it is. And I suspect neither do you. Her motivation for calling it "Unfair Gotcha Journalism" is clear. She embarrassed herself on the national stage by displaying a complete lack of understanding of US History and wanted to blame it on someone other than herself. That's a child's motivation. Look, I don't love Rick Perry, but he at least owned up to the "was it was" stuff. Palin said it was _UNFAIR_ to be asked the absolute hands down most softball question that any local news reporter can ask. "What have you seen here in Boston?" In fact, Palin was UNIQUELY qualified to answer "what have _you_ seen" since it's a subjective question about her experiences. If that's "gotcha" journalism, the woman has no business in front of the camera.
Demonizing ones opponents as sub-human incapable of feelings and reason, especially political opponents, is a longstanding inanity with this species. Oh, she's capable of feelings. She feels embarrassed when she makes an ass out of herself. The problem is, rather than solve the underlying problem of "being stupid" she goes and does things like writing notes on her hand, trying to make up US history, claiming to read newspapers that she doesn't read, etc. It's not demonizing to say, "This woman is literally incapable of doing the job for which she is running". And that's saying a LOT because the Vice President seriously doesn't do much.

Palin in Boston I hope not.

Is this the incident you speak of? Palin in Boston I hope not. Well, more specifically I'm talking about what Palin said to the reaction to what she said. Her "Paul Revere" comment was spurred by a reporter asking "What have you seen here in Boston?". Her response was a mess. Her reaction later was that it was "gotcha journalism" to ask her "what have you seen"

All the rhetoric that I have heard calls for the flat repeal of Obamacare without any hint of what should replace it. Republicans in the House recently pushed a bill that would flat out repeal Obamacare without anything to replace it. I think the intent is very obvious. They think that the regulations that cut back on insurance company profits were bad and should be repealed immediately.

Not much if any information there and certainly no "plan".

Hi Jar,
Not much if any information there and certainly no "plan". Yes, a couple meager suggestions for changes that would make things worse than today, in place of a plan that will make things better than today. Everything would cost more, especially for the working family, and the health\pharmaceutical executives would make even more obscene profits. Everyone bow down to the dollar. I certainly hope an opinion piece isn't the best you've got.....

Taq writes: All the rhetoric that I have heard calls for the flat repeal of Obamacare without any hint of what should replace it. Not a plan, but it is a hint at what one Republican would like to replace the current health care plan with. I suppose Coyote has met his burden. My prediction is that unless the Supreme Court rules in a way that dooms the current plan, the Republicans won't really need an a plan that servers as anything other than sound bites. I remember a short few years ago when it was just neo-Cons that got my goat. Ah well.

I don't have a problem with people making a profit. I do have a problem with a business model that directly correlates greater profit to refusing treatment.
Somehow Canada and the rest of the First World manage to be profitable markets for the pharmaceutical industry while simultaneously guaranteeing coverage, usually single-payer, to every citizen. If I lived a little farther north, past an arbitrary line, I wouldn't even need to pay a copay for a doctor's appointment or prescription medication...and yet the Canadian market is still profitable enough that pharmaceutical companies still sell them drugs. Funny how it all works so differently when you cross that arbitrary border, isn't it?
