Ah yes, Dominionism.
* ''World conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish. [...] Thus, Christian politics has as its primary intent the conquest of the land - of men, families, institutions, bureaucracies, courts, and governments for the Kingdom of Christ.'' (404- Not Found) * ''All who are content with a humanistic law system and do not strive to replace it with Biblical law are guilty of idolatry. They have forsaken the covenant of their God, and they are asking us to serve other gods.'' (404- Not Found) * ''The Bible contains the directives of the King of kings for every area of human activity, including civil government, economics, art, science, family, church, and more. Activity in each sphere is to be governed by the Law of God.'' (Christian Reconstruction: A Call for Reformation and Revival The Forerunner) * ''What about Old Testament laws that require stoning, such as Exodus 21:17,'' "And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death." The question about incorrigible children is a common one. The so-called "harshness" of this punishment is often posed to refute the idea of theonomy as the basis for civil law. However, I know that this law and its punishment under the Old Covenant was just because God is just. Therefore, I ask, what has changed under the New Covenant so that the law and its punishment are now unjust?'' (What is Theonomy? The Forerunner) * ''Slaves have no economic incentive to work, since they cannot improve their situation regardless of how hard they labor. Therefore the master is allowed to provide that incentive by beating them.'' (404- Not Found) * ''Capital crimes against the family include rebellion to parents, homosexuality and adultery. Sound harsh? Then what you are saying, in effect, is that God is harsh and that treason against the family is "not as bad" as treason against the state.'' (What is Theonomy? The Forerunner) * ''Nevertheless, this one fact should be apparent: turning the other cheek is a bribe. It is a valid form of action for only so long as the Christian is impotent politically or militarily.'' (404- Not Found) * ''To observe the law in relationship to our neighbor, recognizing his right to life, home, property, and reputation, is to love him.'' (404- Not Found) * ''When men see how relevant the ten commandments are for economics, they should gain new respect for the importance of the laws of God.'' (404- Not Found) * ''In a theonomic society the civil government would promote virtues that it often works against today. It would reinstitute laws protecting the observance of the Sabbath.'' (404- Not Found) * ''The god of Judaism is the devil.'' (CHRISTIAN RECONSTRUCTIONISM, DOMINION THEOLOGY AND THEONOMY) * ''The means to lawful wealth is the covenant law, the law of God. Capitalization is thus a radical and total task. Man must seek to subdue the earth and gain wealth as a means of restitution and restoration, as means of establishing God’s dominion in every realm. Wherever godly men establish their superior productivity and gain wealth, they thereby glorify God. Wealth in itself is good, and a blessing of the Lord.'' (http://www.yuricareport.com/...utingCreepingDominionism.html) * ''Those who are obedient to His commands will rule the world, reconstructing it for His glory in terms of His laws. [...] The nation that will not serve us will perish (Isa. 60:12); all the peoples of the earth will be subdued under our feet (Ps. 47:1-3)--promises made originally to Israel, but now to be fulfilled in the New Israel, the Church.'' (404- Not Found) It sounds super.

So, Bachmann's campaign manager and deputy manager have both quit.
In our continuing series on "Things Michele Bachmann doesn't know" ... this week she doesn't know that winning a straw poll (in which neither of the front runners bothered to participate) should not really be referred to as a "historic victory"; in the same way and for the same reason that a man with an inflatable sex doll should not refer to it as "my hot girlfriend".

In today's semi-news, famous nonentity Tim "Who?" Pawlenty has endorsed Mitt Romney and joined his campaign team.
This is important because

Jon Huntsman and Gary Johnson are officially less dickish than the other candidates. So it's a shame that the rank-and-vile Republicans who get to pick the candidate are, apparently, complete dicks.

I think you're right... and that sucks. Fuck voting. You could vote Libertarian. No, their guy won't win, but it registers the way you'd like the Republican Party to lean if they want to capture your vote. If enough people who felt like you did that then this would pressure them in your direction. Imagine if they had to placate the libertarians as much as they have to placate the religious right ... ... actually, what would happen then? I'm reminded of the old joke about the man who dropped a chameleon on a tartan rug to watch it die.

How do you stop people from giving money to people? Not people, corporations. And you stop them by making it illegal like it was in the last zillion elections.

When it comes down to the actual running of government, yes. So when the Republicans scream about how they want to abolish "Obamacare" ... if they'd had the whip hand, they'd have instituted it, yes? It may be a choice between the less conservative of two conservatives, but I think that given that choice we should exercise it, or we might get the more conservative of two conservatives, which would actually be worse.

In an astute financial move, Herman Cain's campaign has paid over $100,000 to buy copies of Herman Cain's autobiography This Is Herman Cain! as published by that previously unknown publishing house, Herman Cain T.H.E. New Voice, a for-profit company owned by Herman Cain.
One might hope that he'd at least give himself a discount, but unfortunately that would be illegal.

Bored of doing real polls, the Pew Research Center has done a word association test instead.
The three words most people think of when they hear Rick Perry are: "Texas", "idiot" and "NO". The poll does not record what proportion of people responded with mute, wordless horror.

The thing that comes to mind with YES WE CAN bytes is: Allah Akbar is the most beautiful sound he ever head. Just don't sing it in a closed dark cinema or a plane. Your crazy does not relate to the message to which you are replying.

After resigning en masse, Bachmann's New Hampshire campaign team explain why. Apparently they found the national campaign tema to be "rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and at times cruel."
Who'd have thought that people like that would work for Michele Bachmann? Dishonest, you say? I'm staggered. And cruel? Golly, imagine a group of teabaggers behaving in a hateful way. It boggles the imagination.

Herman Cain has made the oddest political campaign add ever. Yes, even odder than That Crazy Guy Who Just Shouts At The Camera, because at least you have some idea of why he was doing it.
In fact, it may be the oddest thing ever. Its only real competition probably lives at the bottom of the Mariana Trench and is well-endowed in the tentacle department.
