Oh good grief. People actually listen to Alex Jones??????
Does ANYTHING in your post have ANYTHING to do with the topic? What value is added by being a Global Reserve Currency and do you even know what that means? Would it make any difference if we abandoned the dollar and adopted the Euro? Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Phat writes: jar writes: Honestly? I dont know. I am asking because I worry about the US undergoing an internal crises. What if our money alone becomes worthless? How will we who are paid in dollars survive? I am championing the rights of fairness rather than exploitation by the rest of the world. I am asking what we must do to remain in the game with our assets intact and valued the same as a Europeans would be. (or the prevailing standard) Would it make any difference if we abandoned the dollar and adopted the Euro? Fairness is irrelevant. To remain in the game we need to educate the current crop of two year olds and all of their little siblings that come after them, get rid of all Local School Boards and instil a National Curriculum, raise taxes drastically, particularly on the upper middle class and above, remove the stops on the Social Security taxes, increase the governmental oversight of industry, create a single payer National Healthcare system, re-regulate all utilities and much of transportation and communications and follow through for about 25-50 years. Phat writes: quote:The problem is lack of consensus. Politicians seem to waste so much time in deadlock. Your ideas sound rational and effective, but implementation remains illusive. Okay. No problem. What happens when you keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome? Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

The best we can do is tell Israel they have two years to get out of all occupied territories and recognize Palestine or they are on their own, vote every politician that claims to be a Christian out of office unless they are homosexual and/or pledge to support same sex marriage rights, establish a National Curriculum and base accreditation of all schools, public, private and home school on the National Curriculum as a minimum standard, remove the income cap on Social Security taxes, increase Inheritance taxes in a progressive scale, increase the top income tax rates in a progressive scale, treat corporate earnings the same as individual income.
And if that pisses off the little picayune God Buz markets, tell it to shove it. Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Buzsaw writes: It has, historically, always considered precious, having non-corrosive beauty, durability and commercial use. Not so with unbacked paper notes. Sorry Buz but silver most certainly corrodes, and is very easily corroded. Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Actually Buz, silver is not used in many electronic components because it is so corrosive.

Catholic Scientist writes: Actually Buz, silver is not used in many electronic components because it is so corrosive. Actually, actually, being corrosive would mean that it is the one doing the damage I'm not aware of a term for a property of a metal for how resistant it is to corrosion... like, "Corrosibility" or something. You are right. Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Remember that during WWII it was the copper penny that had a high intrinsic value.

Huh?
I'm sorry but that makes no sense. Where do the products in your stores come from? When Safeway buys the inventory isn't the payment subject to the exchange rate? Why is the US dollar the only currency that can be printed and hyper inflated?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Did you notice what your quoted, for example "This also means that most commodities are priced in dollars and that commodities trading done in other currencies requires a conversion to dollars."
Trading is done by conversion based on the then current exchange rate. Do you understand what that means?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Pricing oil in dollars does not give the US any advantage; when the dollar is strong (meaning the US Economy is strong) oil is cheaper and when the dollar is weak oil is more expensive.
The strength of the dollar is dependent on the US economy, not on its status.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
