Please, do tell us HOW EXACTLY any republican potential candidate would "restore america".
They are probably talking about getting the black out of the white house. There's another possibility, though. They could nominate candidates so extreme, that Obama is re-elected with a Dem majority in both houses. That could be the way to restore America.

It's "who likes wet people?".
Thanks. That makes more sense. The "white" seemed completely out of context. The "wet" fits what else is going on. I'm no fan of Bachman, but we do need to be honest in our criticisms. We don't need doctored videos.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

As far as I can tell, the real objection of evangelicals to HPV is that it supposedly encourages premarital sex. Palin Won't Run
Is anybody surprised at this? Perhaps I'm too much of a cynic. But for a long time, it has looked pretty obvious that she had no intention of running, but would pretend to run for as long as she could get away with it because that brought in publicity and money.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

How does the electoral process work at this stage?
It doesn't. We Americans can be proud of having the most dysfunctional system that has ever existed.
Are only registered Republicans allowed to vote in the Republican primaries?
As Dr Adequate has said, that varies from state to state. Here, in Illinois, I am asked whether I want a Republican or Democratic ballot (there might be other choices, too). Whichever I choose, I am apparently considered a registered member of that party until the next primary. I gather that the procedure is New Hampshire is similar, but with one difference. Apparently, one is given a form to specify one's party membership, and that can be filed after voting. So if I were in NH, I could vote Republican, then complete that form to thereafter cancel any implied Republican affiliation and go back to being an independent.Jesus was a liberal hippie

I could be wrong. Maybe the Democratic primaries in New Hampshire were also conducted at the same time, with only one candidate, President Obama?
There was a Democratic primary at the same time. There actually was an opponent of Obama running.

So what is to stop Dems voting for the most idiotic Rep candidate to scupper the Reps presidential condidate.
We will probably never know how many of Obama's 2008 primary votes came from Republicans who were trying to stop Hillary Clinton.Jesus was a liberal hippie

It's nice to see Ron Paul standing up for Christian morality.
I guess we will have to tune into tonight's interview with Gingrich's ex-wife, to find out more about this Christian morality.Jesus was a liberal hippie

That Santorum can't seem to get traction among the evangelicals should tell you something -- that he is too fanatic for the fanatics?
I think it has more to do with the perception that Santorum can't beat Romney, but Gingrich can.Jesus was a liberal hippie

What the fuck are you guys up to over there?
It is actually fairly simple - and hilarious. Obama is a centrist politician - to the right of many Democrats. For some strange reason, the Republicans don't like Obama. I'm not sure why. It cannot possibly be racism, because they are vehemently denying that Because they don't like Obama, they are trying to paint him as at the leftist extreme. And that means that they themselves have to appear to be well to the right of Obama. Since Obama is already a bit toward the right, the only way they can appear well to the right of Obama is for them to jump of the cliff and into total insanity. And that is what they have done.Jesus was a liberal hippie

The amount of hate and distortion that is shown not just towards Pres. Obama but to other GOP candidates is unbelievable and I reckon that cbs aint nowhere near the worst.
You are mostly seeing the extreme views. The crazies are more outspoken than the rest of the population.
Id venture a guess that not one mainstream politician in Europe is as far right as your Dems
That is probably correct.
Is it the "curse" of bi-party system?
No, it is mostly racism. There's nothing in Obama's positions that is a problem for most Americans. However, those who are racist have to paint Obama as being some sort of extremist. They can't just complain that he is black, because such overt racism is not acceptable today. So their egos demand that they distinguish themselves from Obama in other ways. Accusing him of being a left extremist seems to be what they have settled on. But, as a result, they find themselves forced to support insanely rightist positions to contrast themselves with Obama. For myself, I am enjoying it as entertainment. It does look as if the Republican party might self-destruct over this.Jesus was a liberal hippie

Never underestimate the ability of the American people to vote against their own best interests
I don't. On the other hand, I only have one vote and I intend using that sensibly. In the meantime, I can enjoy the entertainment.Jesus was a liberal hippie
