It's purely a bunch of idjits who woke up Nov. 7 and realized "the n----- got re-elected!!1!! OMG!!!!"
We've got plenty more ignernt racist asswipes that call themselves "true conservatives" than just those 60,000 here in Texas. I work with a bunch of them every day.

3.Texas exerts an out of proportion amount of effect on classroom text books, watering down science, so we could be freed of this effect.
Justaminnit, RAZD!!!! The water we add to that science is PURE OGALLALA AQUIFER WATER, pumped at no inconsiderable expense from out of the Caprock right up the road towards Lubbock! Don't be defaming our State Board of Education!

Re: The Puritan state
For your reading pleasure, Faith, try some Mark Twain:
Mark Twain on Religion : Bible Teaching and Religious Practice
He's still pretty much spot-on, and he's over a century beneath the sod....

Re: First Amendment Violations
Except for Catholicism which is sadly mistaken for Christianity -- THAT's going to grow and acquire power.
I seriously doubt it. They've boinked too many little boys and told too many women that they should be popping out a baby every year. And they are having a terrible time recruiting new priests, as well - all the young ones here in West Texas are Filipino, which is a culture shock for both the priest and the congregation.
They're losing their grip, rapidly.

Amen, Rahvin.
My situation is a bit like yours, and you've told what I think better than I could have.
