So ....where were all the gun owners who have all these guns "for protection" when a fucking shit load of KIDS were gunned down in school? Why did none of you protect them with your guns? Legal guns are for protection, right?
Oh, that's right, because they aren't for protecting anyone other than yourself when someone tries to harm you. Fuck everyone else.
I simply cannot wrap my head around this shit. High School? Maybe because High School kids are prone to making fun of people. But a god damn class room full of 5 to 10 year olds? Get fucked. I have TWO boys in that exact age range and I cannot even fathom what I would do if I was in ANY of those parents' shoes in Connecticut right now. I cannot even guarantee I wouldn't take my own life if I lost my kids to some idiot fucking retard who didn't take his crazy pills today and stole daddy's guns to go kill his mom and her students.
Yea, more fucking GUN FREEDOM FOR 'MURICA! Shoot your neighbor up! Shoot your dog up! Shoot your neighbors dog up! Fuck, SHOOT EACH OTHER UP! Just make sure not to forget to shoot up the neighbors kids!
'MURICA! FUCK YEA! CHEESEBURGERS AND GUNS AND BEER AND BASEBALL AND GUNZ AND TRUCKS AND WAR!

They were exactly where you said you they had to be
When did I ever say guns had to be away from school? Don't attribute a position onto me that you think I hold or have previously held.
Over 25 CHILDREN died today because some idiot retard had easy access to guns and you are defending the right for those guns to be so easily accessible.
Over 25 CHILDREN. Kids. between the ages of 5 and 10 years old died today for no god damn reason other than, apparently, this idiot had the means to kill them. With guns.
Go have some kids and I guaran-fucking-tee you sing a different tune.
I mean, all of you who think this tragedy justifies more strict gun control need to grapple with the fact that this tragedy happened in the state with the second-strictest gun control laws in America; the state with the fourth-lowest rate of gun ownership; the state with no "shall-issue" concealed-carry law; the state where assault rifles are banned. Isn't calling for more gun control at this point the same as observing that tax cuts ruined the economy, and therefore the answer is more tax cuts?
Then maybe the laws aren't strict enough? That's like saying "light" cigarettes are the safest kind.

Ya know, I have, in the past, been pretty indifferent in regards to gun control. I like guns, but I think they should be controlled. However, I don't like to discuss it because I can see both sides of the argument and don't have a definitive answer or even position.
However, this incident strikes me at my very core because I live in a small town just like Newtown and I have two boys that are right within the ages of the kids who were gunned down today. I expect a reasonable amount of safety to be granted my kids, what with living in the fucking United States of America as opposed to some 3rd world country ravaged by war daily. You're right, Connecticut IS supposed to be a safe as shit place. But guess what? It fucking happened there. Doesn't that tell you something is wrong? Doesn't that tell you that the wrong kind of people have too easy a access to guns?
Even having said that, I still can't solidly say I am completely against guns simply because it is too broad and complex of a topic. Plus, it cannot be reasonably or rationally discussed. America has a gun problem. Plain and simple. I don't care about other country's statistics. America, the supposed leader of the fucking world, has a serious gun problem. You know how it's a problem? When god damn CONNECTICUT gets shot up. Fucking connecticut. A small ass town to boot.
If you can't recognize that there is a problem, you are part of it.

But look, they're just as safe today as they were yesterday. It's not like this is the first school shooting ever. It's not even like a school shooting is a statistically significant way to die. It's like being hit by a meteor.
Here's what I take from this comment: "look, we are allowed, (nay, have a right) to have guns so you are going to have to accept that a school full of children just might get shot up because hey, you can't stop me from having guns. Besides, who would have known that some crazy asshole had access to his mom's guns???"
Is that about right? Are we supposed to just accept that a random school might get shot up?
I sympathise with, and grieve for, the parents who lost children but it's still the case that the leading cause of death in children is traffic accidents.
.....aannnnd???? Guess what? We are doing what the fuck we can to lower those deaths. Or have car manufacturers done absolutely nothing to try and make their cars safer? Do we NOT pass more laws about traffic safety?
But fuck you, get your god damn hands off MY GUNS, right? I better have the easy access to fucking guns to kill people...oops, I mean "protect myself".
I just don't get that. The fact that it happened in Connecticut indicates, to me, that this is an incredibly rare event that's going to happen in some statistically-uneliminateable small number of cases, regardless of our legal gun control regime.
It tells me that America has a gun problem and no where is safe from guns. But we will both, obviously, see what we want.

Guns may be a symptom of a violent culture,
I deplore the idea that we are somehow a violent culture, as opposed to a violent nature. Guess what? There was plenty of fucking violence before vidya games and movies! Anyone care to remember the Roman fucking Colosseum? People act like 24 hour news programs or Grand Theft Auto V or even Call of Duty are the only reason people shoot each other up.

I would love to find a way to see your response as something other than a "well, back in my day" comment, but I cannot. You see, "back in my day" comments are fucking worthless.

This is really funny and SO telling.
The only thing telling I meant is that creationists are typically conservative and thus are gun nuts. Anything else drawn from my comment is wholly of your own imagination.

Re: Removal of Constitutional rights
But what effect has the ability to bear arms had on it?
None. They just like to pretend that, when the mythical day comes, they will have their stockpile of guns ready to fight off the gestapo (just like in the movies) when they come to round them up. What they don't realize is that right now our rights are being eroded, but it's happening on Capitol Hill and there will never be a revolution because we are too content, fat and lazy. Plus, TV hasn't told us it's time to revolutionize.
That's why we need guns. Oh, and to protect ourselves from the home invasion that hasn't happened and will likely never happen because I live in a rich white neighborhood.

Re: NRA - Still shills for the gun industry
Columbine had an armed deputy and it didn't help them any.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Neil Gardner soon would complete his second year as the uniformed community resource officer assigned to Columbine High School. Gardner, a 15-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, normally ate his lunch with the students in the cafeteria during first lunch period. His car would have been parked in his normal spot in front of the cafeteria doors - between the junior and senior parking lots.
On April 20, however, Deputy Gardner and campus supervisor Andy Marton, an unarmed school security officer employed by the school district, were eating lunch in Gardner’s patrol car. They were monitoring students in the Smokers’ Pit, a spot just to the northwest of campus in Clement Park where the students congregated to smoke cigarettes.
... SNIP ...
As Gardner stepped out of his patrol car, Eric Harris turned his attention from shooting into the west doors of the high school to the student parking lot and to the deputy. Gardner, particularly visible in the bright yellow shirt of the community resource officer uniform, was the target of Harris’ bullets. Harris fired about 10 shots from his rifle at Gardner before his gun jammed. Although Gardner’s patrol car was not hit by bullets, two vehicles that he was parked behind were hit by Harris’ gunfire. Investigators later found two bullet holes in each of the cars.

I had no idea Total Recall was about a utopian future that we should strive for with armed guards every 15 feet just so you, too, can carry a gun.

Re: Statistical Blindness
What's wrong with kevlar? My wife has some here at the apartment, part of her Army kit. I had a spool of it as a kid my mom got from Edmund Scientific, which was sort of the Sears-Roebuck catalog for me as a kid. Seems perfectly safe to me, durable as all hell. Why wouldn't kevlar be good for a backpack?
So you want to outfit schoolchildren just as you would US Soldiers just so you, too, can carry a gun? Why should schoolchildren have to be outfitted with fucking kevlar? Did we get transported back to the Wild Wild West? Is the US pushing itself to be a third world nation rife with war where kids have to worry about mortar bombings and shootings ....
just so you, too, can carry a gun?
