Re: Perhaps ad hominem attacks suggestive of pedophilia...
It is just plain vile and reprehensible.
I agree that it is plainly vile and reprehensible to talk about fucking children. Doubtless we can expect Panda's apology any moment now.

Re: Perhaps ad hominem attacks suggestive of pedophilia...
He just used it as a general swearing term like it's commonly used. You explictly took it as literal fucking children and made a rather crude comment about it.I'm actually puzzled you did, swearing like that is all over the forum(and internet).

Re: Perhaps ad hominem attacks suggestive of pedophilia...
You're misrepresenting the exchange. Again, given that my question had nothing to do with children whatsoever, what makes "fuck those kids, right?" an appropriate response?
I mean, to me a pretty obvious example of Panda quoting me out of context so that he could misrepresent me as being callous towards children, but I'm reliably informed that whenever that happens its just my imagination or something. So there's only the literal interpretation left.

Perhaps we can avoid some additional suspensions if this children discussion is taken to the Whine list.

Re: kofh2u
I'm going to second this. The only thing this poster posts about is single mothers and his apparent disdain for fatherless children. Every single topic is cluttered with his posts about it, yet he has been told nothing.

Re: kofh2u
If you look through his postings to the threads in his threads list you'll see him posting on other topics, but crime correlating with single motherhood does seem to be a favorite topic for him that he'll lapse into at the drop of a hat. We're feeding him more rope, give it time.

Re: kofh2u
So the issue of the whether the gun kills people or people raised by single mothers kill people is a no-no here?
Are you people really seriously restricting debate on Gun Control such that the opinions, views, and expert advice of sources that point to the violent people as the problem can NOT be raised here on EvC????
Consider these experts:
"Freakonomics authors Steven Levitt and Steven Dubner attribute the drop in crime to the legalization of abortion in the 1970s, as they suggest that many would-be neglected children and criminals were never born."

Off topic moderation
What criterion is used to mark discussion off topic in a coffee house thread entitled "Off Topic Posts aka The Rabbit Trail Thread"? Perhaps the moderation of what was intended to be a catchall thread for off topic discussion is a bit heavy handed.

Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846)
The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. William Lloyd Garrison.

Re: Off topic moderation
The topic in question is Off Topic Posts aka The Rabbit Trail Thread.
This topic is a spin-off of Heat release from tectonic friction.
My moderation message in question in the topic in question is here, where I said:
Adminnemooseus writes:
Things global warming are off-topic...
...and I hate seeing a good discussion get buried in a topic it doesn't belong in.
I put "off-topic" banners on some real good messages. Please find a better home for that information.
Adminnemooseus
The "Off Topic..." topic was started by Faith because of the "Heat release" topic was badly going off-topic (Indeed, I did also post an "off-topic" message there, and also "Off-Topic" bannered a bunch of messages.
I had mixed feelings about the new topic. It very much was needed, was set up with a fairly specific theme, but also left things open to make it a catch all topic. And did bypass the Proposed New Topics procedure and did not belong in the "Coffee House". Anyway, the global warming/energy alternative sub-theme broke out, and I thought that sub-theme and it's (some POTM worthy) messages were way off the real original topic theme and deserved a better home.
I hate seeing a good discussion happening in a bad place.
So, what didn't someone just start a new "Global Warming / Energy Alternatives" topic?
Please, any further discussion should go to the General Discussion Of Moderation Procedures (aka 'The Whine List') topic. If so, please include a link back to here.
Adminnemooseus

Or something like that.
