Re: question for geologists
Yes it does, and I am supposing that interstitial feldspars lack twinning and cleavage more often than euhedral grains?

Re: question for geologists
Hmmm... I can't think of a reason why twinning would be more common in euhedral xls than subhedral/anhedral. At least it's not something I ever remember hearing or reading, and I don't think it would be a rule, of sorts. But, hey, it's certainly something to look into.

Searching for a very old post
How do I find a very old post of mine that probably goes back to 2005 or so? It's about the Grand Canyon and i remember posting some drawings I made there which I'd like to see again but the search on "Grand Canyon" only goes back to 2010.
Thanks.

Hi Faith
How do I find a very old post of mine that probably goes back to 2005 or so?
Try google site search:
site: EvC Forum: Home Page faith grand canyon
it found a couple of old posts
EvC Forum: reply to Faith: Deposition and erosion
EvC Forum: Are Grand Canyon Sediments the result of the worldwide flood?
the more information you can put in the search the more likely you are to find the posts you are looking for
Enjoy

Re: Searching for a very old post
Hi Faith,
Click on "Search" to go to the search page and enter "grand canyon" (including the quotes), select "Geology and the Great Flood" (or whatever forum you think it was), and enter "Faith" in the author field. This will find threads going back to 2005.
Go to the first page of any thread, open the thread details, click on "Fetch" next to you name to list all your posts in that thread. Look at each page of your posts to see which ones have images. Repeat for each thread you think is a likely candidate.
But the images may no longer display because after 7 years wherever you put them or got them from may no longer exist. If you remember how the pathname for the images might have begun I may be able to dig out the pathnames for you, but that won't help you find the image.

Polling Feature
Would it be difficult to add an active polling feature here? Does anyone else think that it would be useful?

If I don't have to do the work, yah, no problem.
Does anyone else think that it would be useful?
Actually, as a feature to Percy's eventual commercial product, that really is not a bad idea.

It's on the todo list. I don't know if other discussion board software implements polling the same way I envision, but when I do add polling I'll also be giving members the ability to identify themselves along a variety of different categories, the board software giving the webmaster the ability to define as many different categories as he needs. For example at this board I might allow members to define themselves along the creation/evolution axis (young Earth creationist, old Earth creationist, theological evolutionist, evolutionist, etc), and also on the gun control axis (for/against), and also on the political spectrum (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, independent, etc.). Then during and after a poll the software would present reports broken down along board demographics.
If anyone has suggestions or has used polling at other boards and has come across features they'd like to see, please reply to this message and I'll keep them in mind when I do finally get around to design and implementation.

Re: Polling Feature
I was thinking that it might be informative to have the ability to conduct a pre and post debate poll.
So, for example, say the topic is gun control in the US. Before the debate begins a poll is taken of all the people who wish to express an opinion about the matter. Then the poll is recorded and closed and the debate ensues. After the debate is closed the same people who participated originally are polled again.

Search
How do I get to the other pages of search results? I see the first page of results but no "Next" or a block of page numbers or like that?

Re: Search
There's only one page of search results, if I remember correctly I set the limit to 200. Adding pages of search results is on the todo list.
