Does stupidity really know no bounds?
I stumbled upon the webpage which had excerpts from a Christian "Sciencebook". I was appalled - the adults who write and feed this kind of crap to children should be...in search of a better term, ridiculed.
I am truly sorry for the kids who have to endure that; "Electricity is a mystery. No one has ever observed it or heard it or felt it ... We cannot even say where electricity comes from."

Re: Does stupidity really know no bounds?
When I thought that things could not go any worse than allowing Michelle Bachmann into the Intelligence Committee - I was proven wrong.
There are absolutely no limits to the stupidity -
The chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology said today that the committee would hold hearings next week to settle the question, once and for all, of whether meteors exist.

Re: Does stupidity really know no bounds?
Yes - but when you think about the fact that Ms Bachmann is a member of the Intelligence committee...

Re: re-tracing "the steps" in evolution
Wow - that is a definite proof of the existence of a deity. A decimal numeral system is also such proof - why else would we have ten fingers?
Just like a banana is designed to fit into human hand and to have a "zipper" to open easily - what could be a more clear sign of design. A pineapple or a coconut perhaps...

Oklahoma...
It is nothing short of amazing how stupid some lawmakers can be. Now a law has been introduced stating that kids can just throw wild unsubstantiated claims without teachers being able to flunk them.

Re: Oklahoma...
I have never understood how grown-ups claim that it is agood thing for a kid to "think critically". What is the role of a qualified teacher if the word of a preacher has the same weight in science class.
The creationists are in general dishonest, intellectually lazy dimwits whom I totally loath.

Re: Oklahoma...
Thank you for a well thought-of reply. My point was exactly that the creationists have hijacked the term critical thinking to mean the absolute opposite. I could not find a better literary vehicle than to put it in quotations.
Having followed the disputes abroad I am just glad that my kids do not have to be involved.More often than not it seems we Scandinavians and you are both literally and figuratively worlds apart. I really wish it wasn't so.
