I really really hoped that Santorum would win against Romney. But since Romney is the clear winner, it's time for me to prepare for the possibility of moving to Canada.

Re: Vice Presidential material or is that materiel?
I'd nominate Senator Susan Collins myself, but I know the extremists want someone extreme.
She seems quite nice. Wait, what's the Republican for "quite nice"? Oh yeah, "Marxist". So no, you're not going to get her. Also, she supports the Girl Scouts, who have recently been added to the Big List Of Evil People. She probably has lesbian sex with Olympia Snowe. I have no proof of that, but sometimes I like to imagine it.

Re: That's It, Then?
So for practical purposes that's it. Though we can still continue to mock Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich.
Can we not force Santorum to carry his campaign to full term?

Fuck Off, Newt
Newt Gingrich has promised to reassess his campaign if he does badly in Delaware today, raising the possibility that something mildly consequential might happen in Delaware.
In the meantime, here's the ghastly sack of shit whining on about the sanctity of marriage, like he'd know:
Marriage between a man and a woman is at the heart of our civilization. It’s a belief that is now under attack, yet it’s at the very core of defining who we are. That’s why I urge you to vote for the initiative right here in North Carolina. The chance to vote for a referendum to declare clearly that marriage is between a man and a woman. This is part of the same great process this year that’s involved with President Obama, and that’s involved with the whole danger of what’s happening to our basic beliefs.
I like that "involved with Obama". Could he be more vague? Just to put things into context, Gingrich was speaking in favor of a law in North Carolina making gay marriage illegal. What's that you say, gay marriage is already illegal in North Carolina? Of course it is. But the biggest problem facing North Carolina right now is that gay marriage isn't double illegal, and this must be dealt with. Hence the nauseating clown making a public parade of his hypocrisy for what may now be the last time before he is swallowed up by oblivion and the grave, in which he will choke the worms.
In other news, which I missed, Newt was bitten by a penguin. He has as yet made no public statement about whether the penguin was "involved with Obama", but it is surely significant that the bird is half black and half white.

Michele Bachmann has announced that she won't be running for re-election in 2014. 'Cos she wanted to be President for at least four years, but two is enough for being a Congresswoman ... Sarah Palin's a great role model, isn't she?
I'm sure liberals will find someone else to laugh at.

Re: Michele Bachmann hanging it up (or is she?)
'Cos she wanted to be President for at least four years, but two is enough for being a Congresswoman
This is her 4th term in the House, and will be 8 years total.
quote:
Here’s Michele Bachmann’s YouTub video explaining how wonderful she is and stating that she WILL run for public office if she decides it is necessary for her to save the United States of America from itself. She also states that it is necessary for her to save the United States of America from itself, so do indeed expect her to run.
Video available via source.

Personally, I was hoping she would crash and burn running for another house term. Now the Republicans have a chance to run someone (more) sane in the MN 6th.
I was listening to Minnesota Public Radio earlier today. They interviewed someone from the MN Republican party about the announcement, and all he said were vague statements. He was in the position that he couldn't claim she was a great representative, and he couldn't come out a say she was a crazy person. Unfortunately, they didn't also have someone from the Democratic party comment.
ADDED BY EDIT - More or less what I was referring to above: Downey: Bachmann would have won in 2014 | MPR News - Also, the audio I heard (link from previous cite): http://minnesota.publicradio.org/...s/media_player/popup.php - END EDIT
Re. the above quote - Maybe she is going to run against Al Franken (Relevant link in my Al Franken topic). There I had included:
quote:
Bachmann would go splat against Franken, and the big bonus: she’d lose her House seat as well.

This is an incredibly low standard to exceed. I've spoken to un-medicated schizophrenics that I would consider "more sane" than Bachmann.

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it. - Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers
A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus
"...the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds of variously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit." - Barash, David 1995...
"Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in the name of justice, fearing for your own safety. Even the wise cannot see all ends." - Gandalf, J. R. R. Tolkien: The Lord Of the Rings

All I know is if I was debating her in a Presidential debate I would cede all of my time and allow her to talk all she wanted. I would win in a landslide.
