The funny thing is, the condom's not a bad symbol of government, given government's many prophylactic functions. In the jungle we used them to protect the barrels of our guns.
One of the funniest things about this "cartoon" is that elsewhere your social conservative allies falsely claim that condoms prevent neither disease nor pregnancy. That canard nicely parallels the lies conservatives tell about government.
This cartoon does two disservices: it continues the right's corrosive attack on the legitimacy of government--the us-ness of U.S.--and in the process attacks vitally important contraception and public health programs.
The condom is a low cost, highly effective tool for public health and family planning (e.g., fewer teen pregnancies, fewer AIDS transmissions, & a billion fewer hungry mouths on an overloaded planet). Here, falsely, the condom is associated with abortifacients and generational genocide. A bit of latex, with the potential to save thousands of lives, about which the right has told so many lies, used to propagandize public (which is what government is) impotence: now, that's funny.
In reality , Medicare delivers health care with an administrative overhead a fraction of private insurances, one of a thousand public goods and services preserved and performed by government employees efficiently and cost-effectively. But we can't have Medicare for everyone because the right passionately opposes healthcare for everyone; and Medicare and Medicaid can't get the prices Canadian consumers get because the right blocked Medicare/Medicaid price negotiations.
So I guess what I'm saying is that most folks know who the dicks are, even after all the funny business with rubbers.
"If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you can collect a lot of heads."
