I always thought the greatest generation was in reference to the heros of WWII.Not the scum natzi bastards that started war and implimented the holocaust.I do not blame the men and women who served or sacrificed serving in the armed forces or on the home front of war time America. If not for them I truly believe our country would be worse off.America has been at war for over 10 years and still are engaged in Afghanistan. Yet WWII was over in 5 1/2 years.It is the previous 2 generations that have sold out American factories for cheaper labor, liqudated our manufacturing and tooling and allowed the banks to suck the economy into ruin.
It is the current generation that is imo reaping what was sown.

The US leads in the one category that matters: economy. The EU has a slight edge, but if we break it down by country, it isn't even close. When you are the world's top economy, those things tend to get ignored. When you are able to spend more on defense than the rest of the world combined, that also helps.

If we are so rich, why do we have so many poor, unemployed, underemployed and unable to get healthcare? What good is it being the worlds best economy and richest nation when it only benefits a handful of people and does nothing for its citizens?

because of skyrocketing economic inequality where CEO's make way more than any other country, while bottom workers aren't even paid a living wage.
